I use the sd card for media files,its a one storage device for me,all my previous mobile phones photos are storage on that sd card,together of different backups..so yeah,an average user will never understand the need. If youre happy with tiktok,twitter and youtube then dont include us on your own comfort zone.

Music library on SD is around 300GB FLAC and growing, but apps\games\maps on the device itself i can do with 128GB as all together goes around 80~100 GB. Nowadays you can get 256 onboard for dirt cheap unless its apple.

16 GiB total storage has always been enough for my needs.

Man Smartphones uses UFS type storage memory so we have ufs 3.1 quite some time..
UFS 3.1 is capable of driving the sequential read speed up to 2100MBps and sequential write speed up to 1200MBps
And you looks like haven't been following gsmarena that they made article about samsung introducing ufs 4.0
controller with sequential read speeds of up to 4,200 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 2,800 MB/s.

It basically works same as nvme ssd or even faster than yours in your poor PC 🤦♂️🤷♂️

If you are insisting that reducing I actually was able to reduce media time with faster storage, then you have the communication skills of an alarm clock and you need to stop using your head as just a container for your teeth.

I have 256GB storage on phone and using only 50GB
So no you don't need 256GB and no you don't need sd card ...

How much storage your smartphone has is the one way manufacturers have got yea
Plus as your os take some of the room os updates too new versions of Android it takes away even more of your device storage
I should also point out you can't full your storage too the max either without problems
The storage problem Even worse still if you into gaming and running emulators just not enough room
For gamers
500gb of storage just isn't enough anymore
1tb of storage is really a bare minimum
Also we need nvme SSD storage too come too smartphones as performance improvements are much needed for the os too run smoothly and for game loading times
The other main problem is endurance if you think you can just install and uninstall everything all the time you can't the storage storage only has so many read and write it can do
So yeah basically in my opinion I think flagship gaming smartphone should have at least 1tb of storage and a SSD boot drive as well
Though in general storage options do need too be more how many TB of storage we have and not how many GB we have

As a person who love watching videos instead of playing games, MicroSD is very essential! For me a phone with MicroSD dedicated slot is gold! Even if it's a low end, but still reading and writing speed are also essential, and a great UI so, so for me A Samsung phone with MicroSD slot hybrid but have a fast intenal storage and support huge MicroSD card look delicious since having 2 sim card is not so attractive to me.

I have a 128gb Micro SD in my Sony. Use it only for music, photos and videos. The apps and other stuff still go on the phone.

I think you are using the outdated 3.5mm jack for listening. Switch to USB type C headphones and the song runtime reduces to 1 min+.
