If anything, I avoid any kind of storage that involves internet connectivity. Also, external storage itself can reside inside your phone and be mobile, just like your physical SIM card.

What, 19 Jun 2022what's a micro SD? Oh I don't know, a little SIM-like external storage that you can use inside a phone and store any files offline, which is useful when there is no internet connection for your cloud storage whatsoever?

I don't understand people who "can't live without sd card" on their phone. It is a MOBILE phone. If you want, get an external storage with wifi, sheesh.
I'm a minority here. I use only up to 64GB on my phone (total 128GB). Primarily all the storage is taken by games. The rest is photos. If the "media" get too much, I dump it on PC hard drive or upload in clouds.
I really can't imagine a situation where 1. you need A PHONE 2. to use up 250GB of memory 3. in less than a day 4. without cloud or PC nearby.

For someone like me who always shoot photos in RAW format and have more than 7,500 songs downloaded from Spotify in 320kbps quality, I cannot go lower than 256GB or else there will be no space available.
As for the microSD card itself, I still deeply value its real-world relevance alongside the headphone jack. I never rely on cloud storage because there are still loads of places with little to no internet connectivity, so having a microSD card support is still super useful to store all the files for offline use.

From my experience, sd slot is often a shared sim/sd slot so as I use 2 sim it's useless to me. Now the next phone I like 8s without a slot, but its performance is the best, is buying 256GB memory not enough? There is even 1TB option for some.
Still remember some brands releasing foagship phones with 16GB or 32GB.

my poco x3 pro has 256gb micro sd storage and still not enough

My last micro is 128G and I have no idea what to do with it. Useless in the end.

What, 19 Jun 2022what's a micro SD? I would not try to make an ironic joke about it, as it does not sound to good for tech lovers... while it is actually very practical to have one.

YES 100% important. The fact that I do really hope that the dedicated slot is inside the flagship. Please do not follow apple iPhone, be yourself, android phones.

Just 64GB. Mostly because the phone was much cheaper and I have everything offloaded to my own cloud with 2TB storage anyway. My data connection has been reliable enough for years for that to work perfectly fine. I mostly rely on that for photos backup since there is no microSD card anymore in case if phone catastrophically fails and I couldn't get any photos from it. This way they get uploaded pretty regularly so they are much safer. Before I did store photos directly to SD card so I could just pop it out and have photos there. Certainly one of bigger benefits when it comes to microSD cards as an option.

They are relevant for not needing to move data around when formating the device, but for storage space, well I never filled my phone's memory of 128GB. Most of the people have problems with Storage space only because they keep all sorts of useless media in their phone and most probably they have whatsapp, telegram and whatever other social media platforms allowed to automatically download everything from anyone...
