Indeed, and the official app does not even support the Band 7.
You MUST do a sideload to get it supported, and if you take the chance and do, you will get an app that tries hard to sell you stuff....

      Just found out that though it still uses a non standard band attachment system, it is a MUCH better and compact one, where part of the band goes into the case. On the previous the bands had stiff ends hooking onto 'protrusions' at each end of the case.

      As I use a Milanese band, where the visible part will be much less, I will definitely upgrade ASAP.

        I agree that there are inconveniences with wrist activation. I see two
        1) There is an annoying delay of maybe half a sec from you turned the wrist.
        2) If you want to see how long something takes, it is more often than not above the 5s auto off I use.
        The other side of the coin is obviously prolonged stamina.

        If I need to select a specific teatre-mode, I could just as well turn it off. The issue is that I would have to remember to do 'something' both before and after.
        Optimally (for me) it should be e-ink or even old style lcd.

My Apple Watch 5 dims in very dark environments and there is Theater mode which darkens it entirely. I'd never buy a watch without a good AOD, because (at least me personally) think there is nothing more stupid than wearing a blank watch on a wrist... it doesn't even serve the purpose of a watch, let alone anything else. I use AOD, but I don't use wrist activation because it's unnecessary then.

                    But the two bugs could be related. Would make sense if it for security reasons did a shutdown, if it overheats. Does that match what you got?

                    What is your stamina on it? Mine easily last ten days, and most likely would last the promised 14 too if I let it go completely dry.

                    Are the bugs 'random' or reproducible? That is, do you see the bugs under special circumstances? Note that I got the EU version with no NFC, if that makes a difference here.

                      Hope you got the older versions as well, so you can help us decide on upgrading.

                      I'm using a Band 6, and from what I see the only benefit I would get would be a 9% less thick case (plus the AOD that I'm unlikely to use anyway, seems like a waste of battery stamina, and a pest for the surroundings when you are in a dark place, e.g. cinema)

                        Before buying make sure they doesn't have heating issues. Band 6 had heating issues and auto shutdown issues. Also you can check Mi Band 7 and 7 Pro. They are coming too.

                          The "big" black dead space around the perimeter of the watch surface (BEZELs) is so unnecessary! Get rid of it and use the full surface of the watch for "screen" and not waste the valuable space to large bezels.
