to lol : I've got a Galaxy SL with only 478 MB RAM and I've got 96 apps and I've got 130 MP3 inside (no microSD) and it works like a charm !

You would ... moreThe big problem with low budget windows phone is that version 7 does not support USSD and it looks like it's going to take some time for win phone 8(even with 8 i read there are some problems with banking sms) to trickle down to galaxy y price range. You cant check balance/use roaming call back etc with that phone >.< Another problem is that it does not allow custom keyboards. Using qwerty on small screen phone is quite the nightmare, at least on android u can use custom keyboards with t9 layout/aggresive predictive text or swype. There's simply more choices for the android budget consumer if stock experience is unsatisfactory.

(ie: multi tasking, USB storage drive, bluetooth ftp, etc.)

Lumia 820 (yes, you heard it right, 820) is pretty good, but lacks games and apps. When it gets more games and apps in the near future, it will be great!

So they had to cut costs of production (or God knows what other costs). Downgrading 256 MB ram wasn't something that eye catching like, let's say, lowering the MHz, internal storage capacity or camera's MPs. And of course, I hate Samsung!

Specs =/= performance. You would be better of paying for performance instead.
Specs: Android > Lumia
Performance: Lumia > Android
