Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+ to have the same telephoto camera as their predecessors

The selfie snapper might be changing, but the zoom lens on the back won't.

Updated it for you. It goes both ways... A lot of iPhone users had Android phones (I had them since Android Eclair was a thing, do the math how far back that is) and ditched it during Android Pie because I was feed up with years of incompetence and laziness from all the different vendors who didn't give a f**k about users after phones were carried out of the store.

It's also kinda funny how people think I don't like Android. If you read the last part of paragraph above, I don't complain over Android, I complain over the STATE of Android caused by incompetence and laziness of different vendors. It's what made me hate Android. Because through entire history of owning phones getting updates was such a misery and literally the worst experience ever. On iPhone however, literally the exact opposite. Even if it has other flaws and issues, they have this so spot on and perfected it's hard to make it any better. I mean, they could move apps to App Store and update them individually like Safari for example, but I frankly just don't care if I need to do a full OS update or just app update when experience is so good. If Apple announces there is update, I'll get it this moment if I check for it. Without exception, for nearly last 4 years it was like a clockwork. No guessing or wondering when vendor, the "majesty" will find users of certain region worthy enough to seed them an update. One of dumbest and most annoying things. And then it's a matter of longevity. Basically any phone I've had in last decade got a single major OS update. Security updates weren't even a thing and if you got 3 years worth of updates it was already huge. And that wasn't even a rule and they usually dropped you just before pretty much any big or cool update. Because they did that on purpose and very much intentionally just to sell you new phone which had the newer OS. iPhones get major OS update every single year, it happens on every single fall of that year and you get the big update the moment it's officially announced no matter where you live in the world. And you get that for guaranteed 5 years and often even more which is just an extra bonus. For me, that alone is worth more than all the sideloading, custom ROM's, 500x more settings and options combined.

Now, many vendors have improved over last few years, but they all still operate on silly "we're gonna seed in this country only for now" and they have tiers of updates for different price ranges and they sort of mention they'll support them for X years with no real guarantee. Samsung and Google are really only exceptions where you can really be sure you'll get anything reliably. For the rest it's all like whatever. If I'd buy an Oppo, Xioami, Realme or basically any Chinese brand, I'd have to buy it solely for hardware with zero expectations for any software support and go willingly with that. A lot of people do that, but I don't like that at all.

Anonymous, 29 Jun 2022No... thats not what you were saying. You were not dating y... moreUm, yeah, whatevers. Accidents can happen, but if you have attitude like you have, they happen a lot more often than for people who give a f**k. Just like you can avoid crashing a car if you do few basic precautions above what's the very bare minimum for not crashing, the same you can do with sensitive devices. If avoiding doing certain things proactively lowers chance of accident by 75%, wouldn't that make sense? Well, not in your world where everything is left to chance and you do absolutely nothing to improve that chance. Heh. bbbuh bye.

Anonymous, 29 Jun 2022You're the one spreading bs and doing as an unhappy re... moreLol, true. Also majority (if not all) of current iPhone users never had an Android phone in the past 3-5 years. Yet they speak about Android phones like they know how things are going now. They base their opinion on what they see or read in the comments here, which is totally not true.
Majority of people commenting on arena devices, are people who had problems with their Android phones. And is somehow logical, you are commenting in here to try and find some solutions to your problems. But those people are maybe 10-15% of the actual people buying Android phones. The rest are happy Android users who are satisfied with their phones.
You don't see so many iPhone users commenting here (except few), because majority of iPhone users are long gone from this site. Also, they don't care about latest news in phones or tech, because for them exist only iPhone and next iPhone. Period.

Thus being said, to return to my previous argument, iPhone users read what they find in here, then assume (wrongfully), that majority of Android users are unhappy or unsatisfied with their phones. And that somehow majority of Android phones are bad, laggy and with software issues. Which is not true.

Now, as a second thing, I had the opportunity to play with both an iPhone 7 and an iPhone 8 in 2022. And even though both are still capable phones in 2022, they are not what they used to be back in their first years. And I know this, because I owned a new iPhone 8 Plus back in the day. Different experience (performance wise) than what I saw now with iPhone 8 on IOS 15. And that is logical, software updates (even though iPhone users claim they are perfect at Apple), are still software updates. And in time, can degrade the hardware capabilities of older phones. Not to mention, the batteries of those 2 phones I mentioned earlier were really bad. Almost unusable for day to day tasks. But, that's another discussion.

Bottom line, the more and longer software updates you have with your phones, the higher risk of that phone not performing like in the beginning exist. No matter if Android or iPhone.

Anonymous, 29 Jun 2022They have to keep improving because they are so far behind.... moreSamsung can't even bother to bring an improved telephoto sensor. Heck, Samsung used to put a 48MP 1/2" telephoto sensor on the S20 Ultra, something that Xiaomi and Google followed suit with the Mi 10/11 Ultra and the Pixel 6 Pro respectively. If Samsung brings back that 48MP telephoto sensor and give a continuous variable zoom feature like the Sony Xperia 1 Mk4, that is worth watching. After all, Samsung have DeX and I regularly use it from my Note8.

So by your logic since you are commenting, replying and disagreeing with me means ask the same things could be said about you. Probably even more so with your erratic and arrogant behavior.

You were not dating you can avoid situations by being proactive. You were simply making up a bunch of random claims to degrade others while claiming yourself as some special person above accidents and reality.

I don't even want to know how you drive if you're so careless and let everything to be "by chance" and not do anything about it to avoid it.

And many times has been a hindrance even. Like having a 5-6 year world lead in mobile app crashes a few years back.
Or constantly every time a new big release came out and was claimed to be fully tested and ready was beta as crap requiring many following updates for a month or two.... yet it's easier and better for them to "optimize" and "support". And that's what you always supposedly paid more money for while getting less.
And while getting less you had supposedly better... not better optimized software that was chugging you down after a couple years. And on to of that the much lower than average storage, ram, and battery capacities started crippling the phones after a while.
Thankfully for iphone users in the past few years those three major flaws have been well addressed.

And yes many people with couple year or older iphone do notice some slow downs too. IPhone is not immune to "reality".

Hell, it hasn't slowed down at all where Android phones did that just by using them and not doing factory reset every half a year...
