Anonymous, 06 Jul 2022This sensor will not be implemented in any Xperia in the fu... moreWell there is rumor even before this Xiaomi was announced that the next Xperia flagship would implement a slightly modified version of this sensor, no idea about credibility though.
I'm impressed that they actually make it this thick, that's a compromise I personally am willing to make in the name of superior imaging hardware, and even if the standard flagship doesn't implement this, the next Pro-I(if there is one) could definitely be this thick, if only the top half or 1/3 of it.

Anonymous, 08 Jul 20221080p is 1920 x 1080.Yes, and no. Not at FullHD content is served in 16:9 aspect ratio. Is that really so difficult for people here to understand?
Almost NO movies in FullHD Blu-ray or streaming are actually 1920 x 1080 as far as the actual content goes. Only if you count the black bars above and below the actual movie/video. The vertical resolution of the actual movie is lower than 1080, but the horizontal resolution is always 1920.
For soap operas, yes they are pretty much all 1920 x 1080 in FullHD as 16:9 aspect ratio is the standard for soaps.

Anonymous, 06 Jul 2022No, 1080p content doesn't scale perfectly to 3840 x 1644.Again, not all FullHD/1080p content is actually 1080p vertical pixels of content. Just like how not all 4K content is 2160p. FullHD is however always 1920 pixels horizontally and 1920 scales perfectly to 4K's 3840 horizontal resolution.
Strip away the no-content black bars above and below the fullHD movie and you left with about 880-890 lines of actual content.
As far as aspect ratios go, there is no perfect one as some content is 16:9 and some is 18:9 and some is 21:9 and 21:9-ish. For a while 18:9 phones were almost the norm. I miss those days as that aspect ratio is the middle ground between the two mainly used aspect ratios in TV (16:9 - although 21:9 is increasing in popularity here as well) and movies (21:9).

These are nothing to do with having a larger sensor, either.

It sounds great on paper, but the night photos I've seen flares and bad highlights crushing. It's probably inherent in the large sensor. The Leica mode is way oversaturated. The price is right, but I'd still choose the Pixel 6 Pro for photos, even with its crappy battery life.

Check Trading Shenzhen - starting price is 1100 (excl. VAT). Also, China version might not support the 4G & 5G bands of Your local operator. Also, no warranty and no support in case something goes south.
