HTC releases anatomy-inspired teaser for an upcoming device

06 February, 2013
The odd-looking image is more than likely related to the soon to be announced HTC M7 flagship.

motoboy, 07 Feb 2013The only thing I dislike about HTC is that all their phones... moreThe fight to be the king of All-Phone-Look-The-Same actually has only two players: Apple and Samsung. Just look at their line-ups this year. I hope you're not carrying one of them, or you'll be eating your words.

The only thing I dislike about HTC is that all their phones from flagship to mid level all look the same or very similar. Please use brushed metal, carbon fibre, or matte ceramic and less soft curves and more boxy angles....what can you expect from a moto fan...otherwise good phones.

The chairman was excited because this will be the first decent HTC phone in the last year-and-a-half to feature an external SD cardslot.

Everyone cross your fingers that they don't stick to their usual "smallest battery possible" strategy. I want a big'ol fatty to keep that heart pumping for a couple days.

hope Htc gets their well-deserved comeback.
They may have been a bit slow on updates but i'd still take one of their phones over an iphone or sammy any day. Also a good that they started the 1080p race for smaller smartphones, cuz really who thinks a 5inch is practical..

I have HTC one X , its great and meeting my demands .. with all upcoming updates

My rumour: It is actually going to be the HTC Two X.
It will have a different name and shape than the M7.

It will be my next phone :-)

It's the International version of the Butterfly/DNA with a supposedly better camera (although looking at samples from the Xperia ZL the Lumia 920 will still kick its ass). What else do you need to know ??

HTC is not a good brand at all, if you think Allow lock down there devices well HTC do the same silly thing example:

                                      - locked bootloader

Even if you wanted to flash an approved HTC RUU based firmware you can't as the boot loader is locked and as soon you unlock it via there unlock bootloader method you void all future warranty on the device, once you unlock the boot loader you get a FLAG message saying unlocked boot loader thus viod all future warranty.

                                      - S-On

S-On or Security on prevents the handset owner from even trying to flash HTC RUU based firmware from another region of the world, if you try to change it to S-Off you get a "tampered" Flagg on the handsets HBoot system screen.

                                      - H-Boot

They keep on changing the HBoot version, this means if you are not happy with updated firmware HTC have released and you want to change back firmware you can't, not without doing major rooting of the device.

                                      - Removal of Android System Recovery options

There is no way to do a hard backup of system and user data or install via SD card when in HBoot or Fast boot mode.

I had a HTC One X, the jellybean 4.1.1 update made the One X turn into a useless device, so trying to change back to ICS 4.0.4 you woukd think is easy, like with Samsung, you download the official firmware and use Odin and enter the handset into boot loader mode and then flash the firmware.

Nope, due to locked boot loader, S-On and updates to HBoot I could not downgrade.

I had to unlock the boot loader (this void warranty), had to switch S-On to S-Off (thus rooting the device which I did not want to do), since I could not find an official HTC RUU specific to my region of the world I had to download the Asian release 2.17 ICS 4.0.4 OTA firmware, but as the damn HBoot version was change thus was useless. I tried 3 times with no success and on the 4th attempt I bricked the One X.

With no options left I had to get the mother replaced at my cost (which is fair enough) however the service centre could not install ICS 4.0.4 instead they flashed 4.1.1 JB which again on my end is useless.

So I sold the damn thing and now have a Note 2 which was from Thing Kong but I have flashed Open Europe based 4.1.2 to it, much better.

So my advice is that if you want to use HTC BE CAREFULL OF THERE PRACTICES AT STOPING YOU THE OWNER FRO. DOING WHAT YOU WANT WITH YOUR OWN PURCHASED DECICE, if you want to be locked down like Apple treats there customers sure by an HTC otherwise don't bother and buy a Samsung or LG or a Nokia WP8 device.

                                      End of rant.
