AnonD-46560, 08 Feb 2013apple seeing tough time in china? Well maybe! But iPhone 5 ... more2 million phones would be great on Britain and even in USA It would be ac respectable number. China however is a much bigger market, even 20 million would be only 2% of the total in China. 2 million is... insignificant.

AnonD-82281, 08 Feb 2013Considering that droid phones are insanely cheap for brand ... moreWhere are those cheap new flagships?

I just know that iphone 4s is free on contract and iphone 5 cost a maximum of $199. I paid $749 for my Note 2 and am ready to pay $800+ for Xperia Z, and then we cannot afford iphone 5? Or Z10, or Lumia 920. Its not a matter of money for high end buyers but about preference.

For the low end, theres plenty WP7 and Symbian and Asha smartphones out there, and i seen sim free off contract iphone 4 8GB for ridiculously low prices, and there are even some cheap BB phones. There are indeed many alternatives, but Android is the best.

AnonD-82281, 08 Feb 2013Considering that droid phones are insanely cheap for brand ... moreAccording to your scenario, if anyone can buy any phone, then each and every manufacturer would focus on just the high-end. All phone would be extremely advanced, processing power would reach the limit where most people wouldn't even care about. So people would look for phones that fit their digital lifestyle. And no one would buy iPhone for just status symbol anymore, since anyone can buy it. People would buy iPhone, Galaxy, Xperia, Optimus, or Lumia because it's endorsed by the artists that they like, or because the brand is involved in environment awareness campaign, or anything else like supporting homosexuality. But that turned out not to be the case.

Considering that droid phones are insanely cheap for brand new flagships, and favor quantity over quality, it's hardly surprising. If people could get the phone they really wanted instead of only what they could afford, the figures would be wildly different.

I don't trust Samsung's "shipments" much anymore. Beginning of November 30 million GS3s shipped. In January 30 million sold. How many were in the pipeline vs actually sold in November if it took them 2 months and the busiest shopping season to actually move all that product?
