Is Samsung opened up & let this work with any android phone that installs smartthings they would sell millions more, but they just dont get it. A tag will not stop you moving from a samsung phone.

The apple ones are useless without a holder.

I tried factory reset myself, I contact Samsung 2 different support departments and they told me it is designed that it cannot be reset and unlinked from the Tag itself for security.

This is by design to prevent theft and easily linking to someone elses account.
I can understand that in theory but if you have all the paperwork to prove you purchases it there should be someway at service centre to do it but they said no.

I'm certain if you log a ticket with Samsung that they can reset that if anything else needs that.

It was a one off thing but lost my Smart Tag with this as I did not unlink it in advance.

          There should be a warning.

I love my SmartThings Tags. I own 7 in total, one in my Crossbody bag, one on my doggy's collar, one for my Bimmer's keys. But of course my Bimmer's keyfob can be located by my logging into my BMW account.

people keeps buying to compare with Apple Tag but I would say they stopped now

Galaxy smartphones should be registered to the SmartThings Find network as default to make this service more useful.

I own a smartphone accessories & repair store for years, located on a crowded busy district in the middle of Melbourne City. All the tag holders for Apple AirTag were completely sold down just in few months and not even a single person ever came to ask for this Samsung Tag. I only knew this one exist until I read this thread, lol xD

                              https://www.samsung.com/ae/support/mobile-devices/how-to-reset-the-samsung-smarttag/

Obviously, if you register new Samsung accounts every time you buy a new phone and then forget everything about how to retrieve login details to your old account you're probably effed. But then you are using your Samsung account wrong. :)

I changed my Samsung account details and didn't unregister my Smart Tag + from Smarthings beforehand, there was no warning.
Now my Smart tag + cannot be used as no way to unlink from a dead account.
Even with packing and receipts from Samsung store they say they cannot help in anyway due to security design.

No more Samsung tags for me after that, there should be a way for Samsung to wipe and reset, especially when I am 5 minutes from official repair centre and can take it there.

Broke the screen of my G8x and they replaced it for 50 % off as my warranty was over. and the whole thing took 2 days at most. Now that I mentioned Apple, their service isn't holy either, much better for sure because they are the only one in my country that fix their phone themself, and not like everybody else via a scummy third party (until 5 years ago that was different)

Anyhow Asus comes to mind when I read your comment, in my country the have two totally separate support teams, the one for computer hardware and one for smartphones.

From experience the computer one is excellent, end of story.

But the smartphone one... oh boy, what you just said about Samsung is nothing compared to the mess Asus their smartphone support here is.

In short, Zenfone 8 and ROG phone 5 had hardware related issues, Asus over here will not solve for you, if they do not say it is "your fault", then they take in the device and the endless waiting game starts.

But poor support is again something a lot of companies have, I mean we have to deal with the big computer companies over here, and if I learned anything from them even as a business customer you get shafted.

Dell comes to mind as the worst offender, you can already guess why their computers contain so much custom parts, so that you pay the big fat bill for it.

Anyhow as for smartphone companies none of them had good support over here, Apple has the best one out of what is sold here, but even Apple is bad in my opinion, mostly because they are the only ones allowed to fix the crap.

If anything LG had some fine support here, but they are gone.

As for computer companies, Asus has good support but far at the top are actually all the custom system builders, they have very personal support that really wants to help, maybe that's the reason they are so good.

Conclusion, we need more smaller companies that make smartphones and put the customer in the first place.
