But his name is just Muralikrishnan without any reference to community, locality etc. 'B' would be the initial letter of his father's name. Which is commonly referred to as his initials. It's shortened to denote that its not part of his proper name, but can be used in cases where full name is needed, or for disambiguation. It's common to refer it as B. Muralikrishnan a well(which is the reason it's called as initials).
I don't get what you are referring to. I have even seen middle name shortened to the initial letter in western names.

Initial. Name -> B.MuraliKrishnan.
To follow the standard norms, "B" will be considered lastname and "Muralikrishnan" as Firstname. Hence Muralikrishnan B.

Why is this news? I couldn't care less who the CEO or president 8s. I didn't know the last one and I don't know this one. They're obviously getting paid very well so fair play but this is not really worthy of an article in my opinion and 8 don't really know why gsmarena think that the general public would care who the president of Xiaomi is.
