    Derrrr! 160 and 180 is sub 200! L .o.l.

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2022This charging feature alone has me sold on a samsung phone,... moreI mean, even if you charge with the most basic 5W charger, it'll still creep up to 100% which is undesired if you're looking for longevity. 100% charge means 1 charge cycle of total battery life. Charging to ~80% means you've only used up around 0.2 or 0.3 charge cycles of total battery life. Basically you need to do 3-5 80% charges to use up 1 full charge cycle, meaning you can extend battery life from 3 to 5 times with such charging regime. Plus, charging up to 80% is usually pretty quick, it's the last few % that takes long time so you also gain charge speed without actually doing any crazy fast charging.

Having control over max charge is super convenient and I wish it was standard in ALL Android phones.

Apple just keep going and going while other OEMs sales are down except Samsung, well done

It's got nothing to do with that. The reality is 99% of phones being released this year are garbage. Many are even worse than the ones they're meant to be replacing from 2021

fell by 9% but sales are still strong and despite the inflation, brands are going to have record sales while also increasing their price... ironic isnt it.

SShock, 19 Jul 2022Not only that, Samsung offers bunch of controls for chargin... moreThis charging feature alone has me sold on a samsung phone, which very likely will be my next phone as well.
People say one can just use a slow charger but that's a very impractical solution. Software controlled charging speed is way better

                      inflation soaring so high,,
                      but wage still the same.

                      rip plebian

Wow. So suddenly there is no component shortage and supply chains are working to efficiently (oversupply). /S
That how it looks when people buy every word that is pushed down in their throats by manufacturers / PR's etc.
And I fully agree with other people saying here that newer devices are a lot worse than older from years back. It seems that manufacturers and they accountants are now PRO's with cutting corners and planned obsolescence (ultra fast cable charging, no expandable storage, no jack). Everything to push and maximize sales of e-waste like for example wireless headphones. We sell you everything to save our (sic!) planet...
And the ease with which people buy all the excuses like "you can't have a jack because we want to waterproof your device" is beyond me. Right now I still use S7 which has jack and is waterproof and I love it!
I hope that we consumers will be more conscious in the future.
                        Cheers!

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2022On top of that, they're also pushing maniacal charging... moreNot only that, Samsung offers bunch of controls for charging, one of which is my favorite and that's hard locking phone to charge up to 85% and stop. I charge my phone to 80% and use app that notifies me with alarm, but if I don't unplug it it'll continue charging to 100%. Samsung doesn't do that if you enable the setting so I could charge phone over night freely knowing it would stop at 85%. Love it. And on top of that, they also give you like 3 options of charging speeds where you can disallow fast charging entirely. And they have these options on all phones as far as I know, am sure of seeing it on Galaxy A52s, possibly they have it even on lowest end A0x models.

I know some other brands have it, but it's hardly known thing and it's very inconsistent between models.

Just one among many things why I find Samsung appealing and very likely candidate for my next phone.

There is a reason why apple and Samsung do not provide such a feature in their phones, since their flagships are made to last for years, unlike chinese phones that are made to be used for 2 years then discarded

Not due to oversupply but, confusion in specs within 25k we get half baked cake. Like many capable device don't have dedicated sd card slots. Some device lack refreshing rate, Amoled display, while others just increasing megapixel numbers to whopping 108 but image quality is getting worse to 3-4 yrs old 8 mp device.

Am I the only one who feels that a 512gb + 8 gb combination is better than a 256 gb + 16 gb one?

I'm just waiting to see what is the most popular Android smartphone of 2022. Last year belonged to Samsung Galaxy A12, which is a sub-$200 entry-level smartphone. I won't be surprised if another sub-$200 entry-level smartphone regardless of brand receives such an accolade.

Most phone releases are trash and nearly all of them are ridiculously overpriced. Suddenly everyone, even all the Chinese manufacturers which are almost all of them are suddenly selling phones which they deem worthy of 4 digit price in EUR just because they throw in high specs hardware and call it a day. WTF!?

Looks like Samsung is doing it on purpose to be wavey haha.

But more buyers are finally learning, newer phone =/= better -or- a must have.
This is especially true in 2021-2022 where wanted specs are removed, numbers get higher with no benifit and insane prices.
