we really need Huawei or another competitor to make a foldable tablet phone, the samsung flip is perfectly fine, but the fold line feels tired and dated already, especially next to both of Huaweis last 2 foldable tablets, they were amazing devices, shame they are crippled overpriced and highly limited, the wedge design on the huawei mate x2 is simply stunning and SO MUCH thinner then the samsung fold

I think Samsung should make 2 versions of the Fold ultra version with 2 zoom lens(3x and 10x) and s pen integrated to the phone and regular Fold with just 1 3x zoom lens and no S pen and only mid range chipset for much lower price.
Flip 4 at least are rumored to get bigger upgrade with better cameras(still no telephoto cameras thought) and bigger battery.

I was so hopeful that this time samsung is going to actually fix all the shortcomings that plagued previous fold devices but alas all the leaks are telling a different story.
To point out few of the key issues that make me question why i need to spend 1800 dollars!
1-Crease still exists although less but still there making it really annoying to use internal display for media consumption especially for dark content that makes the crease drastically visible.
2- Camera setup could be improved, for a device that costs a fortune. With limited telephoto capabilities the camera is probably equal to previous generation midrange phones.
3-Still bulky while folded making device not convenient for pocket.
4-Internal and external display size could be better.
So looks like need to wait more and maybe fold 5 is the device to get once these shortcomings are fixed...

GAMIR3DH, 19 Jul 2022A refresh of the last year's model... i expected some... moreYou don't see the big picture here
The Z line is supposed to be exciting and experimental, and it was for some time.
But then Samsung realized they're the only real foldable player in the western markets. Whatever dumpster fire Motorola come up with each year doesn't matter.
You can always import some China-only rarities but you'll lose warranty, parts availability and you'll get an awkward software.
So Samsung started to do incrementals upgrades on their foldables. Because while they're now offering by far the less exciting stuff in that segment, they're the only viable option for western consumers.
Lack of competition kills innovation, nothing new.

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2022I honestly would like to get a Fold, but the fact that you ... moreThis is what I like about Microsoft's Duo line. The multitasking is excellent with two screens and the fact that they are both glass never has me questioning durability,

A refresh of the last year's model... i expected something more experimental but i guess this is now the time where the Z series will be exactly like the S series, one year is a update the other is a re-design.

Why are people still paying manufactures who offer nothing innovative & actually useful and no under display camera yet??

The Flip, 19 Jul 2022The Flip 4's sides are squared off like the iPhone 12/... moreI honestly would like to get a Fold, but the fact that you have to baby it to the point that you shouldn't even hit or use it with your nails is kind of a turn off (prove me wrong though). I'd probably still wait for the technology to mature a bit more where an actual flexible glass that won't snap in half and not get permanent marks just from accidentally nailing it would be great.
I personally don't think foldable phones are the future, but it definitely is a great subcategory for phones.

The Flip 4's sides are squared off like the iPhone 12/13. I prefer the rounded sides of the 3. But if the battery is rumored to be 3800-3900 mAh, that alone is worth the upgrade. The Flip 4 is actually quite tempting for me. I might trade-in my Flip 3 to get the 4 if Samsung has a good trade-in deal for it.
I'm actually quite happy with my Flip 3. Even the battery life isn't that bad since I don't use it as a main phone. I don't want to keep upgrading to a new one needing to set up my new phone all over again. It's too time-consuming and redundant.
For folks who never owned a Flip, I say for it. Snap 8+ Gen 1 + 400-600 extra mAh should give you enough stamina all day from a foldable flip phone. Add the shallower crease. The Razr 3 will have the same battery capacity of its predecessor. That's already DOA like the Nothing phone (1).

I don't really mind the crease on it. But the durability of the device should be made better since i am a bit rough on phones and often use em without a case or screen protector whatsoever. Hence, it should be able to take knocks and bumps on a regular basis

Even the chinese that use BOE screen has minimum crease, but samsung has not solved this. Still way more visible.
But samsung is too busy with useless UDC that has VGA quality when outer screen is more than enough for video calls or using to take selfies.

I like the design style, but I'd rather have a high-mid range type of flip phone. Snapdragon 8 Gen currently does not have the best reputation in the world, some 7 Gen would be better.
