The Kin phones were an odd experiment, but Windows Phone 7 was supposed to capture the phone market the same way that Window had the PC market.

Nokia Made foundation for Microsoft success, Q3 2013 when Microsoft Acquire Nokia Division, that Quarter 10M device were sold, around 4% marketshare and in many markets WP outsold Ios, there were around 50M active devices and Many top developers started to Embrace Wp, 64% of ios top 100 apps were available in Wp platform.

Then Microsoft immediately after Acquisition started to Destroy Nokia legacy by Discontinuing important apps, not upgrading all device to wp10, starting to make overpriced devices with low specification (cortex A5 instead of krait)

Then slowly customers leave wp platform untill it died. In short Microsoft mobile division were incompetent and they didnt know what people outside of US wanted, in their eyes only ios is worth copying.

yep Microsoft finally did it with windows 11 + android library .its interesting to see a windows phone and can run native android apps .hope they make it

My family had Windowsphones for years. My mother had a lumina 610 till she had cracked the screen. I gave her another lumina but can't remember the model. She had it for years until the support ended on it. When I was selling phone years ago I would sell the lumina 520 to older customers. The phones had large tiles and were easy to navigate.

It is more than 10 years.... actually 30...
They had the "Microsoft Windows Mobile" earlier, as early as 2000 in your own database

            Great post!

Indeed the 950 was a couple years ahead of technology, USB-C and fast charging.
            Sadly my old 630 didn't get Windows 10 :(

This needs millions of investments to make apps compatible with with small size devices.l and Microsoft has the funds but no vision. Make a foldable with win11 and invest in it and i think it will outsell other foldables
