Well the majority of uninformed customers associate smaller displays as a lower quality product (this isn't true)
So this mini series will be a tough sell.. good for niche folks tho
Even apple's brand image isn't strong enough to make healthy sales (by their standards) for its mini hence why it was cut

A compromise I could think of (an unpopular opinion) would have been to keep the 2 major OS updates but release this with Android 13 out of the box a few weeks after the Pixel 2022 phones.

Other articles indicate that the base model will cost $699 in the US, which was about the equivalent of the launch price of Zenfone 8 in my region last year but Zenfone 9 doesn't seem to be launching here this year.

I really love the compact size but the only thing letting it down is 2 years updates for a flagship device.

I doubt that. Note that this is neither a Bayer nor a Quad Bayer sensor. It's a Quad Pixel autofocus sensor, so it only has 16 million microlenses. This changes fundamentally how the sensor produces images. A 12 megapixel dual pixel sensor actually has 24 megapixels, but it only has 12 million microlenses, that's why you only get 12 megapixel photos.

jamalu96, 28 Jul 2022and it is developer beta version and not for stable public ... moreI have beta 4 and I see no difference between whether it was beta or a final version, even a few days ago I received an update, apart from the patch at the beginning of the month, which corrected many things, now I have better autonomy, it is much faster, I know It heats up less playing a long day and so on, so it's a fairly stable beta and it's a few days I'll have the final version and you? when will you have it lol

As I feared, price went up higher by 100 bucks compared to Zenfone 8 launch price. It is also 200 bucks higher than current Zenfone 8 price.
Also, no word on the launch here in India. Given ROG Phone 6 which was launched at 1000 euro retails here at INR 72k, I am guessing Zenfone 9 (or 9z as it will be called here) will be priced well north of INR 50k (if it launches here at all!)
But overall a very good device and will be on my shortlist for upgrading my LG V30.
