Anonymous, 30 Jul 2022I don't understand why are vendors are sooo obsessed w... moreactually charging speeds matter a lot, especially if you actually leave the house for the entire day and need to top up quickly before

I don't mind if there is speed involved if you have control. Which ASUS kinda showed with Zenfone 9. It's not exactly lightning fast, but you have control over how it charges and how far it charges. This should be a standard on all phones yet only ones where I know it's a guaranteed feature is on Samsung Galaxy A (at least A50, not sure for A30, A10 and A0 series) and all models above including Galaxy S and ASUS phones which had this for a while too. Imagine how cool it would be having this kind of control with something like 240W charging capability. Charging hyper fast, but only up to 80% with a hard limit. Not only it would charge even faster because charging beyond 80 or 90% is where it really gets slow and you'd only be wasting a fraction of a charge cycle while still getting basically same daily use. At least for me, those last 20% don't really change things much as far as battery endurance goes, but really extends battery life dramatically.

It's good to charge it to 100% here and there apparently so that battery is calibrated properly (at least that's what my laptop with 80% charge limiter says and automatically does here and there).

Instead of 150w charging just give me a bigger battery. I know there are ppl out there who need that crazy fast charging but I'd just prefer a bigger battery that lasts longer. I hate to say it but I just keep looking at apple phones now because they last so much longer than an android phone with the same size battery. I mean just look at the 13 pro max battery endurance rating compared to the asus ROG phone 6.

4300mah on the iphone and 6000 mah on the ROG phone 6. But yet the iphone is getting 20 hours web browsing and 24 hours video while the ROG phone 6 is only getting 16 hours web browsing and 20 hours video. Imagine how long the iphone would go if it had the same 6000 mah battery. The 3g talk time hours is better on the ROG phone 6 but it also has an extra 1700 mah so even then the iphone is getting better 3g talk time per mah.

IpsDisplay, 30 Jul 2022Engineers going to school studying for years and working si... moreI bet you read about this. Phones normally took 4-6 hours to charge and lasted a week with daily usage. And batteries had the same 2 year warranty as the phone itself.

Today phones can charge in about 30 minutes. Lasts half a day on daily usage. Battery only have 3 months warranty. Because the new faster charging technology does destroy the battery faster than before.

Random gsma reply 'technology got better because engineers has been in school'.

Typically kids not really knowing what they talk about.

AnonD-834088, 30 Jul 2022Don't these phone makers ever listen, keep the bloooody... morethey want more profits and don't actually care what customers actually want. people will anyways buy their products.

Tigolebitties, 30 Jul 2022I feel like OnePlus is putting more effort into this phone ... morebecause they know their 10 pro is a secretly a foldable so they need another flagship.

The charger will get very hot, but the phone no (I had Realme, OnePlus and Xiaomi).
Taking into consideration that they reached 40-43 degrees in gaming, that maximum temperature when charging wasn't so bad. Also, it reached maximum temperature maybe just 5-10 minutes at the peak of the charging.

But doesn't mean you have to use said charger.

You can buy 5w charger and use that, it be very slow.

Or use their 30w charger, again they giving you choice.

No wonder a lot of their past customers have left them. They have just become mainstream. I mean, why buy a OnePlus at this point? They are the same as Realme or Oppo. Not to mention you have Redmi or Poco brands who have better prices nowadays.

Olympus Oms, 30 Jul 2022So the battery will die faster than 10 pro. Gotcha. Engineers going to school studying for years and working six plus months to develop the technology and get certification

Makes breakthrough with longevity of charging in mind

iQOO 9T already set the bar high 2 days ago, OnePlus lost its UI as a strong selling point. I think only way to choose 10 over 9T would be IP67/8 rating which isn't there and pricing is expected to be on higher side. I'd choose 9T
