notafanboy, 03 Aug 2022People don't even know why they're hating on Colo... moreAs a long time OnePlus user (OnePlus 3T, 5, 6 till 9 Pro) this is the main reason:
ColorOS is not the issue, its OxygenOS disappearing that's the underlying issue. OxygenOS was the most fluid and stable software experience on Android at time by a fair margin, then with the launch of OxygenOS 12 (which is based off of the latest ColorOS 12) update that all changed... and ignoring the fact that many unique OnePlus features and functions disappeared, the biggest upset is that it was buggy as heck! Then a message from Pete at the start of the year said basically, "okay after community feedback OxygenOS and ColorOS will stay separate and OxygenOS will go back to a familiar experience (read StockUI) that OnePlus users are used and will bring back the features that are uniquely OnePlus."

Now with the launch of OxygenOS 13 and ColorOS 13 around the corner, the truth is that OxygenOS 13 is just a reskinned ColorOS 13. You can't reskin a Chinese UI to make it behave like StockUI. I would say it's as bold as taking Xiaomi's MiUI and putting Lawnchair Launcher on it and calling the device stock.

I feel so betrayed with this OOS13 that is actually color is 13. First and last OnePlus i bought, shame on OnePlus, shame on Oppo. Next will be a Pixel.

Turned out... moreI also got the OP9 Pro at a *deep* sale knowing 3rd-party ROMs were the only real way to get proper software support (i.e., that official LineageOS works pretty great for my use case). However, make no mistake, 3rd-party ROMs are *not* for everyone (e.g., Widevine L1 is gone and there will be plenty of apps "complaining" about the ROM). I completely understand how many regular users would be annoyed to infinity by 3rd-party ROMs. Alas, Oneplus should do better. The state of disrepair in OxyegenOS is disheartening, not even a shadow of what made Oneplus relevant.

The Nord 2 IS mentioned on the original post, but not in the list here. Booh.

Still, that doesn't mean it really comes to the device. And I would be sceptical with any model line from them. It's an upgrade disaster...

I'm so disappointed. The Nord 2 5G Pac-Man edition still stuck on Android 11. Now it seems that not even OxygenOS 13 is coming, even though they promised 2 major OS updates.

Turned out I should've just spent a few hundred more for the S22 or iPhone 13 instead for a better software support than getting a flagship with a questionable one. Learn from the hard way Ig

I don't expect the OnePlus brand to survive at this point as a front for Oppo. There's no difference between the brands if hardware and software are the same. At this point Oppo is just trying to fool the last few consumers who have good will towards the company OnePlus used to be.

I know most people hate the new oxygen os style, but I think it's important for a company to make a style for their phones nowadays. Samsung have One UI, Xiaomi have MIUI, Pixels have a heavily modified stock (which is quite different to stock) and OnePlus have OxygenOS.

My (somewhat) unique opinion is this. Stock android looks slow, simply because that's what cheap budget phones use. Good (fast) phones nowadays need to have their own appearance, whether people like it or not.
