They usually just copy images and descriptions from legit ones and sell fakes or second hand grey market stuff. May be cheap, may be fake. Are you going to wait months to get parts and deal with returns and refunds if physical item doens't match exactly? That's the main issue. And if something goes wrong, people usually blame manufacturer like it's their fault for them to buy fake parts. I've seen too many people go that route insted of blaming themselves.

SShock, 04 Aug 2022Sure you can, but are you sure it's actually a genuine... moreSamsung doesn't make these ports themselves and the manufacturers directly sell to consumers on sites like AliExpress. Yeah there are a lot of fakes and there is no guarantee but if you inspect your ordered part carefully you can be pretty sure if it's a fake or genuine. And have only paid 10% of what Samsung asks for. I mean look at the port it's a tiny PCB it's nowhere near 5€ in cost so the manufacturer makes relatively huge profit by selling directly to consumers instead of just Samsung so they'll do that.

RealLifePhones, 04 Aug 2022This is so extremely overpriced! I can buy a genuine Samsun... moreSure you can, but are you sure it's actually a genuine part? Because AliExpress and the likes can sell you all sorts of things that are "genuine". If it's sold by Samsung directly, it's guaranteed.

This is so extremely overpriced! I can buy a genuine Samsung charging port for under 5€ on AliExpress including VAT and shipping. Suction cup and pry tool can be bought at 1€ shops and for heating the adhesive a hairdryer is sufficient. Legislative action is needed because what big tech offers to avoid it is a joke!
Same applies to Apple as well and iFixit is an ass kissing company that only started this trend to benefit as the middle man when consumers buy these kits from their sites. They defended Apple’s overcomplicated and overpriced approach in every video they made while apple software locks the option to use a donor device. M2 motherboard is identical to M1 motherboard yet you still can’t swap them on the 13″ MacBook Pro (something Framework proved is possible) and all they’ve said is “Apple must have a good reason for doing so” while the only reason is 💰💸🤑

I will not be surprised if phones start to go "wrong" more often. They will make a killing.

Phone companies will price the parts too high.
