Are ... moreYou must be the one asleep (and knowing you, I'm not surprised in the slightest) since this isn't the same as what they had previously. Previously the pinch to zoom only zoomed in to make the video fit with your aspect ratio, and that's in fullscreen only - this is allowing you to zoom in further (up to 2x) to see things in the video more closely, and it's not restricted to fullscreen.

Are ... moreThere is a difference between pinch to zoom to change if you want to see black bezels or less vertical zone; and to be able to zoom in the video and see with a X2 zoom, to see small things better/read small text better etc (as in any photo). In the first gif in the article can be seen perfectly the new feature
