    The Flip, 11 Aug 2022Preferring Weaker Hardware/Software/Predecessors Super NES... moreGalaxy A52 5G > Galaxy A53 5G
    Pixel 5 > Pixel 6
    Xbox One S > Xbox Series S

"It all depends with your experiences with them. It's never really about the specs. Sometimes it's just your own personal memories attached to them."

I also understand the sentimental value xD

      Preferring Weaker Hardware/Software/Predecessors
      Super NES > Nintendo 64
      PlayStation > PlayStation 2
      Final Fantasy 7 > Final Fantasy 8-15
      Tekken 3 > Tekken 4-7
      Metal Gear Solid 3 > Metal Gear Solid 4 & 5
      iPhone 2G > iPhone 3G
      HTC One M7 > HTC One M8
      Pixel 3 > Pixel 4, 5, & 6
      Android 9 > Android 10, 11, & 12

      Flip 3 > Flip 4?
      Razr 5G > Razr 2022?

Oldie is still a goodie. Sometimes newer isn't always better.

My favorite example is my PS1 over PS2. Now I love PS2. It's practically a PS1, PS2, and DVD player. But for some reason, I enjoyed owning my PS1 more. Maybe because I got my PS1 in 1996 and didn't get a PS2 until 2003. That's 1 year vs. 3. Even with all the ugly pixelated graphics that aged worse than 2D graphics from the Super NES, the PS1 remains my favorite console I've ever owned.

Maybe owning the Dreamcast by 2001 for $50 made me turned off from the $300 PS2. But by 2005 with games like Tekken 5, Gran Turismo 4, and God of War, I came to loving my PS2 as much as my Dreamcast. But it still never quite reached the level of PS1 and playing that for 6 years (1996-2002). I had to replace my PS1 1001 model with the dreaded lens problem of needing to turn it upside-down to work.

This is probably how I feel with Flip 3 over Flip 4. I think Flip 4 is just more of the same the way HTC One M8 was. It's an improvement but it doesn't feel revolutionary. It doesn't feel as fresh to me. I do prefer sequels too. Like I prefer Vita more than PSP and I love my PSP. But Vita could browse much faster and can play PS2 ports. I prefer PS4 over PS3. I prefer Dreamcast over Genesis and Saturn. I prefer iPhone 4S over 4 and 5S over 5. I had many fond memories of my iPhone 4 but I would rather go back to a 4S if I had a choice.

It all depends with your experiences with them. It's never really about the specs. Sometimes it's just your own personal memories attached to them.

So they finally make it a flagship after it being an over priced under supported lower mid range....but drop the iconic look that is the main selling point of the device....
At least they finally priced it more reasonably.

Ivo., 11 Aug 2022Another foldable phone with a horrible crease in the middle... moreyeah!!!! I saw that too in a yesterday's Samsung presentation....

Anonymous, 11 Aug 2022Only advantage of Flip 4 over this are stronger glass and I... moreWell, a lot of talk and what's the result?
                  - it depends on your taste, I don't think Razr 2022 looks any different, the same make-up case.
                  - don't think so, both can do the same.
                  - Samsung's OneUI is by far the best android UI nowadays.
                  - possibly yes.
                  - nonsense.
And I would add zero support for Razr, predictably worse battery life (Lenovo can't do the optimalisation right), worse camera (another thing they are really bad at)...
Samsung still wins by a lightyear.

Even Z Flip3 from 2021 has longer software support than this.

Signature design gone, underwhelming battery, unnecessary flagship chipset which will burn the whole phone. I don't see how this will compete with the same offering from Samsung. I really want clamshell foldable to be the norm, and I like the unique chin of the RAZR. Now it's just 'another' foldable.

It's DOA. Motorola will give you one major update and then forget about this device. It doesn't matter how good a phone is. Bad software support should not be accepted by consumers. I really wish Motorola Mobility was still owned by Google.

I don't feel Samsung or Motorola really nailed their foldable flips this year. The Flip 4 is more of the same. It didn't correct its small cover display. While Motorola did change it up and improved the internals, but the design is actually worse. It's a copycat of the Flip 3 & 4 when opened. Same punch hole. Same fingerprint scanner on the right side. But when closed, it doesn't look symmetrical with the cameras on the bottom right and in horizontal position instead of vertical on the Z Flips.

If I was a typical consumer who wanted to save money, I suggest to get the Flip 3. Maybe get it for $500 or less. Even FREE if trade-in. If you don't like the cover display, then find a Razr 5G. I have both and have been using both together for nearly a year. I don't feel any urge to upgrade them. The Razr 5G goes for $800 but you might find lightly used ones for $400 or less on OfferUp or eBay. Just don't expect the smoothest performance with a Snap765G from a 2020 phone. Battery life on Razr 5G and Flip 3 is about the same. Not great but not terrible if the Flip 3 is on 4G and 60 hz.

Wait for at least 3 months.

I hope for European release very soon.

blue, 11 Aug 2022In what exactly?Only advantage of Flip 4 over this are stronger glass and IP rating.

                                      - Razr looks like phone, not makeup case.
                                      - Second screen is much more useful
                                      - no Samsung UI (obviously stock android is bad too), not all that 3rd party bloatware
                                      - better hinge
                                      - no performance loss after 6 months like all galaxy
