See, this device was my most anticipated release of the year.
I'm currently daily driving a ZF2.
ZF3 was a very sad incremental update, if a new device doesn't feel or look enough different than my current daily driver then I won't upgrade. Why should I ?
From ZF1 to 2 the upgrade is huge & obvious. From ZF2 to 3 you can't tell the difference.
So I was expecting the 4 to carry some pretty major, ground-breaking new features, exciting stuff worthy of upgrading, but as Carl Pei would say ; nothing.
No Ultra cameras, no Fast charging (It's long overdue now, when in a hurry and out of juice 25W just won't do) and still this awful aspect ratio on the front.
Stuff like X Fold and the likes have proper ratio on the cover screen and actual flagships cameras. Proper charging in tow as well.
I mean if the X Fold & other chinese exotics were to be imported officially the Z Fold 4 wouldn't stand a chance.
But they are not imported. Doing so yourself will result in quite the sketchy software experience, no warranty & no support whatsoever.
Samsung knows that very well and that's why the ZF4 can be so boring : Because as sad as it is for something supposed to be the bleeding edge of tech (You know, the radical opposite of iPhonish upgrades) it's your only viable option in the west.
Shame on you Samsung.

Remember when everyone was making fun of the first Galaxy Note? How ridiculous it was to talk into a tablet? Well Samsung is leading the way again in regards to hardware.

Removing the charging brick could likely result in lawsuit against Samsung and Apple in Brazil and it does not save the environment. Not everyone has chargers in home.

I can totally understand not upgrading at this stage as this isn't a major update over the fold 3 but it's not really aimed at fold 3 owners. My current phone (Oppo find x2 pro) is now 2 years old and I have just ordered the fold 4 as my contract is finished and the fold 4 is totally different. If I had the fold 3 I wouldn't be looking at upgrading for at least another year by which time the specs will be much better for fold 3 Vs fold 5 but I'm pretty sure the fold 4 to fold 5 updates will again be minimal. Hence why I won't be looking for another upgrade until at least 2024. There isn't a lot that phone manufacturers can do from one year to the next nowadays. When the smartphone was new then big upgrades from year to year were possible. The technology is much more mature now so expecting big upgrades from one year to the next is unreasonable. Having said that, the multitasking ability of the fold 4 looks awesome!

Are you guys using the phone for 3-4 days before you do this review? That's about the time it takes to learn your battery usage pattern.

Besides it's high price, the service support is abysmally poor. Samsung would make you cry if any issue crops up with hefty billing and extremely worthless outsourced third party service centres. The trend of discarding Samsung products are already visible with a number of better makes with reasonable pricing. Customer is always right & sensible can't be disproved.

I was looking to upgrade from Fold 3 to Fold 4, but now decided not going to. Fold 4 is just too boring. Instead I'm looking to buy something else, something different. I think I want to try different brand.
As for next year, Samsung better make massive improvements and add new features with Fold 5.

I bought fold 3 the center display a black fluid leaked and screen touch stopped working. This happened after 7 month use. Samsung failed to give reasons for this leak. The fold model is a failure. Don't buy it. Wasted money. Samsung service is the worst.
