AnonD-109744, 14 Feb 2013Hi KID, Sammy is not competting with Apple.it struggling t... moreexactly. Apple has and will always have its dominance. It can give samsung a run for its money with one iPhone. Samsung is having a war for market share with other droid manufacturers. And its NOT samsung's profit that android is selling like a hot cake, its GOOGLE's profit !! Whatever apple does is their own innovation, OWN PROFIT !!

One minute you're comparing lifetime sales next minute you switch to quarterly sales when is suits you. I noticed you didn't do the most recent quarter. Hmmm,... I wonder why? XD. Of course Samsung did well in Q3. That's Apple's weakest quarter because everyone is holding back for the next iPhone. That's the reason why Samsung will always release their Galaxy S phones at the very end of Q2/ beginning of Q3. They can't get too close to the release of an iPhone. Samsung sets their schedule around Apple's.

Things gonna change Soonor later. Sammy will make his jump into Tizen and WP anytime if Android going wrongs. Apple has no innovations either since Jobs gone. Blackberry and Nokia will make their path to climbing up. The Others ? Will watch..

Why don't you go to the horses mouth and get the information yourself. I guess doing a simple Google search is the best you can do. Here's the source of the information.

        http://www.samsungmobilepress.com/2013/01/14/Samsung-GALAXY-S-Series-Surpasses-100-Million-Unit-Sales

Notice they keep talking about "global channel sales" or "unit channel sales" and not simply "sold." That's code for "shipments." They probably had a truck leave the factory that day that didn't even leave the country yet that they counted as "channel sales." There could be a million phones sitting on a ship in the Pacific or even more millions spread out in warehouses throughout their distribution channels that will not be sold for MONTHS that they count as "unit channel sales." But you go ahead thinking that they actually sold 40 million to customers. Like I said before, the bar is set pretty low for you Samsung fanboys.

There are more poor people then rich people..

If everyone buy smartphones.. of course cheaper crap ones sell more.

But among poor people.. there are people who are cheapskate.. but do not have the money.. so they go grab cheap stuff with specs.. thinking that will give them performance.. another lower group will buy look alike phones to cheat themselves and show off.

Yet there are a well to do group.. delusional that high specs = performance and blindly take what plastic phones they can get.. so they keep changing phones every 6 mths .. never content always looking for the next gen phones.

Nokia has a big head start on WP8. Microsoft is trying to unite their Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 together to one platform. It's so close to be able to code one app and deploy to both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Nokia will be back to #1 folks.

Samsung "shipped" 30 million GS3s in early November. They "sold" 30 million by the beginning of January. They like to report "shipped" numbers because it creates sensationalism and publicity. It's a marketing trick you see often these days. The gullible fanboys lap it up because they're too lazy to actually read.

                                http://www.androidauthority.com/just-30-million-galaxy-s3-units-sold-samsung-says-same-number-early-november-145604/

Apple is one of the few companies that reports sold numbers, not shipped.(in fact I'm not aware of any other smartphone company that reports their numbers sold through to the consumer, but I could be missing one).

Where are you getting that the majority of iPhones sold last quarter were 4Ss? I'd love to see a link or something backing that up. Understandably, I'm pretty skeptical of lots of unsubstantiated facts Samsung fanboys bring up because they have very creative imaginations about their cult-leader company. Apple is more than competing with Samsung. It's the other Android manufacturers who have to worry. They're all declining in sales (except for the low cost, Chinese market only brands that don't even have access to the Play Store). So what if Apple is competing with one phone. Any company can choose to compete with a single phone, but they can't. Could you imagine if Samsung released only one phone a year? or HTC, Moto, Sony etc. So what if they're the only one with their own OS? Palm had WebOS, RIM had BB7 and now 10. How did that work out for them?

BTW, Duh! Of course the GS3 has sold more than the iPhone 5. The GS3's time on the market is double that of the iPhone5. Why don't you compare the 4S and the GS3 then?

However I know Apple users will love anything they release no matter what ugly or useless is.

That's why I'm amazed, because people follow the brand no matter what, Samsung is bringing a full experience to users in technology experience and thats what is important, but, Apple stills Apple.

I'm pretty sure someday they will gain more popularity but for now...this may be seen at iPhone X hehehe

No. They have made NO innovations since 2007. Same boring OS that was there in 2007 is here in 2013. Just a few years ago NOBODY thought a phone NOT name iPhone would sell better than the iPhone. Now? Its a different story. People are buying more Android's, mostly GS3's, then iPhones. Iphone is dying and if they don't innovate they will go the same way as Nokia's symbian!

Gartner is proving itself to be a poor predictor and commentator of all things technology. They are over rated, and under performers with little research actually done, or trend analysis. Merely reporting historic events anyone can do, but looking back over their predictor analysis they leave a lot to be desired.
