I don't see the need for M1 or M2 iPad as they can't even replace laptops and tablets with true desktop OS. I was about to get the 2021 base iPad until I found out that it still use Lightning. I'm definitely hoping that the upcoming 2022/2023 base iPad will have USB-C port while still keeping the headphone jack.

                          All the M2 super computing power, and yet it still runs iPadOS. No thank, but I am more than happy to take a Microsoft Surface Pro 8. Heck, even a Microsoft Surface Pro X still looks like a tempting buy.
