Note II was the most decent device from Samsung where nothing much you can complain on it, beside some may find the screen too big.
I always courage people buying Note II now, never ever pick S III unless you pick the LTE version.
Or the best wait for coming soon S IV, Xperia Z, and any coming soon Android high end device.

They don't care whether iphone has restricted ecosystem, no expandable memory, no dedicated USB connector, no widgets, no customizable home screens, small display, no bluetooth file transfer, non removable battery, still dual core whereas the competition already uses quad core.

And S III international version was not smooth enough because 1GB internal RAM was not enough for Jelly Bean.
Actually Samsung did 1GB for S III international was a big wrong consideration, some iPhone user that switch to S III keep nagging as it was quite not smooth after you long use and the dialer and launcher cannot stick there and re-open, especially after you long use the Chrome with plenty tab opening. (Don't said on custom ROM where abandon Samsung own launcher).
All above was settle and never happen in Note II, or any current device (or future) that equip with 2GB or more RAM.
For now, I can only fully satisfied with Note II, padfone 2 and Butterfly (Droid DNA in USA). The rest so sorry, it was never there compete with iPhone 5 smoothness. But ... functioning wise, iOS was never ever can compete with Android.

No more innavati've feuture in sam s4 compared to LUMIA920 is the worlds most innavati've smartphone.
Pleace samsung made WP8 phones because android was very boring.......... Ya....................its no more innavati've..........!

I know how both sit... moreif u have used iOS6 in devices below iphone 5 then u'll realize that it lags in those devices... only iphone 5 n ipad 3/4 runs smooth on it... where as jb runs butter smooth on S3 n note 2... dont know of jb's performance on any other device but m sure it will run better thn iOS6 in devices below iphone 5 n ipads lower than 3/4...

note2 and s3 are smooth as butter. ip5 lags like crap c... moreI using S III, my sister using Note II. I know how both situation. S III was not a buttery smooth device, it was nice but cannot compare with iOS smoothness. I mean the international I9300 version which only have 1GB RAM not the I9305 LTE edition that equip with 2GB RAM.
2GB RAM was a must for buttery smooth Jelly Bean 4.1.x or 4.2.x
For the moment, only Samsung Note II, Asus Padfone 2, HTC Butterfly was buttery smooth and can fight with iPhone 5.
As for tablet, only Nexus 10 & again Padfone 2 was extreme smooth and can fight with iPad 4. I mean the smoothness part.
And iPhone 5 was boring, no more innovation, but stop saying it lag. iOS never lag and it is the true. Don't because you love Android, Samsung fans, and said something silly on iOS not smooth. If you said that then they will be no different as iFans that lame sleep.

If you said S III was lag, (for non LTE version which was 1GB RAM) I can agree with you, S III was not smooth enough on animation part to consider a buttery smooth Android phone. But not as you said scrolling lag during browsing, it never been the case.
As for Note II, never lagging, it was buttery smooth on every single part, as well impossible during browsing and scrolling.
If yours one was, then I can only said yours one is not a real Note II or you didn't even own any of it.

Your just too used to android env... moreDo u know what lag is that's not how a phone lags and the note2 can not lag at doing such a simple test with it's powerful processer the iphone battery drains very quickly u have to charge it 3-4 times a day

Don't know whether the one you used has carrier issues, but my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE is perfect. No lag. Zip. Nada.

One way to test your lag out is this i dare u:
Get a 3gs (from any of your friends u constantly look under)
Get your note 2
Launch the website www.google.com using any browser u can get. (both stock or chrome .. or any browser u desire)
Scroll up and down rapidly, see how "sticky" your fingers are to the screen.. see the response time.
After that .. u will realise that note 2 actually lags ..
