GeForce NOW as an idea is a great thing, having business laptop without dedicated graphics card I can pay little monthly charge to rent high end PC in order to play games. Problem is - server lag. As much as input lag is relatively small (I don't play FPS, so doesn't bother me if there is a 20-40ms delay), unfortunately there is a stuttering in video and sound. That would not be a connection issue, having effective upload and download around 700Mbps this is more than enough for even full 4K play, but I was doing only 1080p and the stuttering was present majority of time, even is less demanding games such as Subnautica. Plus Android app constantly has login issues, so cannot test the phone on it. All became disappointing enough to the point of me cancelling paid subscription for the time being.

This entire concept is good, but only for low resolutions and big cities, where servers can be located.. and more so for single player games.

In a typical game, only location of opponents and shots registered is sent over internet, this is receiving an entire 1440p stream in 120 fps, while sending your key inputs simultaneously.

Paying 44 from novembver 2022 it will be 46 euros for like 200 TV channels plus fatest internet available.
I live in Bratislava in Petrzalka (largest most populated district in central europe) in a 3 room flat i own. Paying 250 just for rent 44 for TV and Internet, now phone bill, electricity, gas, water, heating at winder months.
      It is very difficult.
      But i can manage somehow.

., 19 Aug 2022You acually have to buy games. They're yours forever v... moreWith GeForce Now is correct what you say, but with Stadia and Xcloud, those games are yours as long as you keep your subscriptions. Once you deactivate the subscription, those games are lost.
Also, I am not 100% sure on this one, but if you have a game in your library and Microsoft or Google removes that game from the offer, those games disappears from your library too (you can't play them anymore). Is something like Netflix, but with games. Not very convenient in my opinion.
On this regard, I think GeForce Now is better, because it links up with your Steam account and library. Of course, for those who have one.

AnonD-731363, 19 Aug 2022Well man Vodafone or Orange is one of the worst picks to go... moreUPC has been bought by Vodafone in Czech Republic. For a while they kept both names (something like Vodafone user for new users and ex-UPC user for older users).
Also, I live in a rent apartment, so the owner of the apartment has contract with Vodafone. Anyway, in that area only Vodafone is available (at least if I want cable connection with router).
I think depends in which part of the city you live. I know some colleagues of mine that have 100/100Mbps download/upload speeds, same city, but in other neighborhoods. Of course, not with Vodafone, some other internet provider (probably some smaller local one; there are still around in my city). Myself, had a similar connection on my previous rent apartment.
I don't know why Vodafone is keeping the uploads speeds so low. For example, they have 500Mbps download speed, but only 30Mbps upload speed (and it cost 600czk/month, around 25EUR/month only Home Internet; if you want Data plans and TV it can cost even more, depending on the choice). Czech Republic has one of the worst internet connection per price ratio in whole EU. More expensive than some countries from Western Europe. Is a debate since last administration, but they still didn't brought the prices down or come up with better connections.

That is why I never completely rely on cloud-related services, particularly cloud storage. There are still loads of places around the world with little to no internet connectivity. Having a physical copy or backup is still relevant and useful.

I will never use GFN simply because I don't like buying digital games, the price to play in 4K is huge and the prices of buying games is higher than 2nd hand games plus I can't sell or trade games like I do with physical games. And if you're like me who never used Steam before, than it makes it 100% not worth it.

I believe and i am sure in your area there are lot of better providers and if not you can always go and try satelite uplink such as Skylink or so.
But Vodafone, Orangem T-Mobile usualy gets lot of money from you but you get nothing worth of as a reward.
I am using UPC which also should be available in Czech republic but some 3rd party providers which are related to just some regions or towns usualy works better in download and upload but the stability is major issue here.

Now, I have 150Mbps plan. Of course, I can go to 300Mbps or even 500Mbps downloads speeds. But the upload will remain around 10-20Mbps. So, I don't think it will do me any good if I increase only the download speeds. I read somewhere that for stream gaming, you need also good uploads speeds. At least 50-100Mbps.
In my past apartment, I had 100Mbps download and 100Mbps upload speeds (it was some local internet provider) and Stadia and Xcloud run good on this speeds. Now, with 150Mbps download speed and 10Mbps upload speed Stadia is virtually unplayable for me. So, I am guessing the upload speed is equally important too.

Anonymous, 19 Aug 2022Sorry, count me out. I want to own my games, not rent it.You're not renting your games with GFN. You login into stores like Steam and Epic and stream the games from your library. Makes it easy to do high-end gaming on low-end or mobile hardware.

DadPlaysGames, 19 Aug 2022I've got 250/250 fiber here outside Stockholm, Sweden ... moreActually bandwidth is not really a big concern.. its the latency. Bandwidth can be resolved with compression and the client side having good decompression.. most client (mobile / laptop / pc are powerful enough for the task)

If it goes beyond 100ms would be kinda bad for some games.. need to keep below 20ms.

I think GeForce now need to partner with each country's ISP.. then have their system running directly in their data centers. The less hop the better...

I've got 250/250 fiber here outside Stockholm, Sweden and both GFN & Stadia runs brilliantly. On my LTE connection it runs 80-90% smoothly (occasional hiccups) even. So I disagree with previous comments that it's not ready yet.

It's worth trying out both Stadia and GFN IMHO. Both can be tried for free. If it doesn't work for you, too bad, either troubleshoot or its not for you yet. If it works, great, you now have more options for your gaming.
