I would so love to buy this phone. I like Samsung phones (I currently have a Note 10+ which is excellent and still going strong), but I find the Fold series a bit weird form factor, and a bit too bulky to be a serious contender for me.
The Huawei Mate Xs2 looks ideal. I've owned a Huawei before the Google ban and it too was an excellent phone. I'm just now struggling to justify £1700 for a phone that doesn't run Google services.
As for those concerned about privacy (and we all should be), don't kid yourself by thinking that Google and the US government aren't snooping on you with Google help. If you are truly concerned about your privacy, don't use a smartphone. Period.

These have been on sale in Asia for months, a very well made and mechanically superior phone that the Samsung fold. The hinge is very well made and the screen on the outside is a masterstroke as the fold is much small. Their problems with Google seem to make it not an option really, as you simply cannot switch it on, connect to your Google account and duplicate apps and contacts from your previous phone. Only the technically non conversant will buy it, and even then, they are unlikely to pay this sort of money just for a folding phone. Samsung should copy this design and make a Google friendly version.

While I agree that the Huawei Mate Xs 2 is probably the best foldable hardware on the market, nobody will buy it as it does not have proper Google support and It is very hard to get Google apps and services running (almost) on it.

Pros: a bit higher res screen, expandable storage.
Cons: no 5g, 2 SoCs behind current SD8+gen1, price.
Depends if pro or con: No GMS, outer folding screen.
My opinion on outer folding screen, if you damage the folded screen the unfolded screen is also affected, unlike inner folding screen the outer screen is separate.

Speaking from experience, I have this phone.

I get the love for slim foldables with no gap or crease, but you would have to be a die-hard Huawei fan to buy this over the Mix Fold 2.
