Customers or consumers, which of the two are we? If we take/buy everything that they produce whether we want or like it or not we are nothing but consumers. If one brand does it then the others follow. This adds insult to injury and shows the reality of what rather how business thinks of the population. Mindless sheep that follow the push and bump of the herd. It's not only the smartphone/tech that does this. 99% of the world's population is not railed thin but 99% of the clothes in stores are made for mannequins and not for and if so stripped down and basic. Same as tech cheaper stripped-down basic feature phones not because they have to be but because the focus is on the thing that they know we crave the brand the name glitter and glamour. Apple sell the same phone for 4 years straight every year a bump or a curve and every year the price goes up. Long ago mass production meant lower prices mass production didn't mean low quality.

Would be good if charging is standardized among different brands smartphone that means, one universal charger and same charging rate, let's 18W for budget phone and 33W for mid range phones and 60W for premium phones.

Time to sue them just like Brazilians did. Companies are trying to make a fool out of their customers.

Practically Dumb, 25 Aug 2022Wish all consumers can start "no charger, no buy"... moreThere was already a case here on a online forum where a guy his A53 suddenly stopped working.

He used the included cable and his old Apple charging brick (original one, he kept it from his iPhone)

Well... guess what Samsung said, they blamed the brick and said "you didn't use the original charger from samsung, so you have lost your warranty"

As for Apple, I didn't see such issues yet, but they do advice to AT LEAST use a PD compatible brick if you go third party.

                              Money talks

It was a matter of time, I even remember how some people told me on this site how Xiaomi would "never do what Samsung and Apple did"

                              Money dear commenters, money

Now I am waiting until Apple and Samsung remove the cable from box, because Sony made the first step already and got away with it.

Then Xiaomi and others will follow too.

Now I wonder what the next thing is that smartphone makers will remove, so many options, so many options...

this is the most bull...t desicion by companies that I have seen. ok we can use phone without earphones or some other accessories but why i should pay for adappter separately.so they care about enviroment? all they care about is money.

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2022Except that it's not how the market works. If Apple d... moreYeah, companies are always looking for ways to reduce costs. It didn't catch on in China yet anyway. As I mentioned, Xiaomi tried it with the Xiaomi 11 series in China and it backfired and ended up costing them more money though shipping chargers separately so they've gone back to chargers in the box in China at least. Plus, most other manufacturers didn't follow suit. With these 120W and 200W charging speeds though the charging is becoming a selling point so I think it would difficult for companies to not ship as it would put a damper on that selling point

Wish all consumers can start "no charger, no buy" to ensure that manufacturers understand. No charger in the box means-

                                    1. Warranty is at manufacturer discretion as they can assume customer used any charger.
                                    2. An old charger may not be that efficient OR support latest tech unless a device is less than 6 months old.
                                    3. People may look for cheaper non-compliant options ruining their device's battery health.
                                    4. USB C has it's own quirks in terms of amount of power it can provide so the charging may be slow or not as advertised.

Feel free to add anything I missed or counter politely.

                                    Thanks
