The price was more like $1200 and that was a considerable amount 20 years ago. If i am not mistaken my monthly salary was not much more than that back then when i was young and underpaid.

And what is $1000 today? What is the most important thing YOU own? For me its the cellphone, plus my Note 2 will be 6 months old before the Z is available in my area, in other words the N2 didnt even cost me $130 monthly. And i can still sell it to recover minimum half of those money. The Z will cost me even less because its good enough to keep longer than 6 months. (that is if i dont get tempted by the C680x or whatever sony launches in 2H 2013)

Those of you who are saying what is different in this phone 4got bout it or are ignorant.
It is water,dust,shatterproof.
It has 1080p display.iPh 5 still has 720p.
It is Playstation certified.
snapdragon s4 pro,adreno 320.If not better,this would be AS good as exynos 5,considering xperia T vs galaxy s3,where xperia T performs excellently even with dual core & 1gb ram.

Lots of people have Samsung handsets and I never seen them complain about its design or build quality.
I believe usual ugly and plastic comments are very much hater made who can't withstand its success.
Btw sony xperia z is a great phone.
