I'd still go with Tegra 4.

So if you get a normal Tegra 4 phone, it requires more juice to power the extra chip...

NVIDIA's naming scheme is the most confusing one of all. They make a habit of slightly updating last year's hardware - wether it's laptop, PC or phone/tablet chipset - while keeping the naming regiment resembling their current hardware. This makes their old crap look like fresh crap confusing the crap out of unaware customers. Why won't they just name this the Tegra 3 LTE or Tegra 3i? It's not exactly fresh out the oven so it's this year's budget offering anyway.

When Nokia added an "i" they actually added something to a device but the base model name stayed unchanged. Just updated. With an "i". NVIDIA, take note!

With single channel memory bus it will lag like ... a Tegra 3.

a long long away to go for nvidia.

There is an important piece of information missing from this article. The A9 cores are an updated version for increased IPC, and expected to run at 2.3ghz. I think at that clock speed the A9 quad will keep pace with the 1.5ghz quad Kraits.

If Qualcomm is able to announce their new SoCs (800/600 etc) last January, and is already able to power up 2 smartphones (LG Optimus G Pro and HTC One), why can't Nvidia do so? The bloody hell it's releasing to be at the end of the year?

What kind of sorcery is that?.
