Weekly poll: what do you think of the new iPhone 14 series?

11 September 2022
The two Pro models bring major upgrades to the cameras, displays and chipsets. Also, the Plus model can appeal to users who want a cheaper bigger phone.

A more logical statement would be that a Realme (for example) model is a better option than one of the other Android models at the comparative price.

Anyone looking at getting an iPhone is likely to have already decided don’t want an android, so it makes little sense to offer them another android.

Two thirds of the visitors of this site do not want an iPhone. This is exactly why you should be writing exclusively about Apple products on a daily basis.

Speaking as a long time Android user, The simplicity of the iPhone lineup was always one of its strengths and now they heading down the Xiaomi path and that is harming the overall impression.

Personally feel they should have not had the base 14 and plus in this lineup and made the Pro and Pro Max the base and Pro instead and kept the 13 and 13 Pro max at a lower price.

Oneplus user, 11 Sep 2022Iphone 14 pro/pro max are decent but nothing special, def n... moreAlways do you guys same the exact same ludicrous nonsense. Look dude, if you can talk any prospective iPhone user into getting a ‘realme get 2 pro’ whilst also demonstrating that it is 100x better (and good luck with that by the way), then you would be the salesman of the century!

What will actually happen though, is after you made your pitch, the iPhone customer will stare at you for several seconds like you grown a second head, then say something like ‘a real gt what now?!?!….look just get me my d*m iPhone will you please, I got places to be!’

The vast majority of iPhone users are either not going to ever have heard of Realme, or care in the slightest about them. Those that at least do check them out are going to find a confusing product line up that seems to have another model or variant added on an hourly bases and think to hell with this, I’ll just stick with what I know.

This is GSMarena where it's tough for APPLE,we all know the result of these polls seeing 99% GSMarena is android of which 80% sticks stubbornly to Samsung

Anyway, so far so good this poll can't testify the sales

              The options should've been like:

I am getting one. Please pardon my tech ignorance
I am considering one. On my path to be an iFan
Vanilla 14 for me since I just want an iPhone. That's it
I'll get the Pro, in purple (the only way to show I got the latest)
I'll get an older iPhone. I wanna look rich on a budget
I'll buy one later. When I can afford to look rich
No iPhone for me. I prefer an Android

As an American where here iPhones dominate the market, I get kind of upset every time someone in the comments is like, “ohhh for the same price as iPhone anything, you can get a realme or Xiaomi”.
Like, I know most of the world has Xiaomi and all the BBK brands (and I’m not one of those Americans who think that they are the center of the world), but dang. It hurts knowing we don’t have what you guys have.
We don’t have Xiaomi. We don’t have Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Iqoo, Honor, (obviously) Huawei. We don’t have them in America.
I know people will mention our Snapdragon-powered Samsungs as a good choice, but I want something different in the flagship segment here. Plus, I want something that isn’t a Google Pixel or OnePlus (I know we have ZTE but as of now their phones are online-only and I’m recovering from a disastrous expensive online shopping experience 😬).
I’m considering Asus and their ROG Phone 6, but I think I may need to save up for it. I’ve heard it’s pretty pricey. I was waiting for the recent Xperia release, but it turned out it was using the notorious 8 gen 1 chip. So I scrapped that. Because even with just 2 OS updates, I think that Android has gotten customizable enough for many people. If Sony had just used the new 8+ gen 1, I probably would’ve had it as my first choice. But for now, I’m looking at the ROG Phone 6.
                Wish me luck. ✌🏽

iPhone 14 Pro Max is too pricey, 1500€ is nuts!

I did the get ready for pre order thing Apple does. So when the pre orders went live, it was simply log in and check out for delivery on the 16th for me.

Going straight back in and adding various other Pro and Pro Max models to basket just to see how it was going I saw that the delivery windows for both had gone straight into October. They things are definitely selling.

Not so for the regular 14 models though, they look like they can still be had on their launch days. That’s not surprising mind, they are not really much of an upgrade from anything 11 or later. The real news this year is the Pro series.

                            „I‘m getting one“
„I‘m getting one of the other 14-series iPhones“
„I‘m getting one of the older iPhones“
„I‘m keeping my current iPhone“ (remember that not everybody upgrades their phone every year)
                            „I‘m staying with Android“

„I want one, but it’s too pricey“ is not mutually exclusive with „I‘ll get one of the older models“, and in the case of the Pro series, not mutually exclusive with „I‘ll get one of the other iPhone 14-series“ either. Also, „No it’s not for me“ could still mean you could get an other iPhone so it‘s not mutually exclusive with the aforementioned options either.

The problem is, your poll only lets the user choose one option, so that IS mutually exclusive.

you know, think what you want about Apple and its iPhones, but i honestly like how they're trying to use the still necessary display cutout as a design element, at least on the Pro models. whereas on Android manufacturers simply minimized its size to a hole and accepted its existence. to me the cutout on Android just looks like a blemish that they can't get rid of. Apple handles it more elegantly, in my opinion. their cutout also features their Face ID sensor, which works quite well in my experience.

if i had an exorbitant amount of money i'd buy an iPhone 14 Pro

The 14 Pro and Pro Max are extremely ugly, but maybe some like the front design so that's not the biggest issue.

However the 14 and 14 Plus are literal scams, at least in my country. You can get the 13 PRO instead of the 14 with the same chipset, better cameras, better display for less money from the same exact store, BRAND NEW! Same goes for the 13 Pro Max instead of 14 Plus.
