A measly 4GB of RAM is no upgrade, and they are pricing it as if the 8 Gen1 is still new. The 8 Gen2 will be out in just a few months. There was no logical reason for this phone to be made.

Objectively, however, playing a game like Call of Duty the wider (horizontal) display allows for much more real estate for the actual visuals, instead of the controls taking up so much space. For vertical gaming I'm not sure.

            Man, I love Sony phones but why are they always so insanely expensive?

              "Gaming Edition" of the 1 IV. But all they do is give it 4GB more of RAM and still don't use the upgraded chip. Who in their right mind is going to buy this? All of 2022 Sony has been making brain-dead decisions after another.

                  Still horrible speakers! Still horrible mics with zero noise cancelation! Still makes Asians extremely yellow when watching movies.

                  But love the screen with fully 90 grades corners, instead of the round 80s tv versions we see on every other phone.

                      It is not SoC related.

                        DOA mark my words.

                        SD8GEN1 that will cause terrible heat issues and throttling even with their new cooling system, the 5000mah battery won't be enough specially with 4k 120hz.
                        And it's overpriced, like any recent sony phone...

                                yikes, not even upgraded to 8+ gen 1 or a real controller

                                Xperia is really a dead brand

                                  accessories like these are notorious for not selling.
                                  Motorola forging into attempted bankruptcy comes to mind
                                  Moto Z Mods.. JBL, projector add on
                                  Sony's chuck full but can they afford a loss like this?

                                      That price is for bundle of Xperia 1 IV 16/512 with Stream gaming gear.
                                      Together, and with HS power control, and all those connections including Lan and Hdmi, I belive this is combination indeed worth 1200, for those ProPlayers.

                                        All Those physical connections...
                                        Excellent bundle for Pro Gamers.
                                        Bundeled in - a Pro gaming phone, Bundeled out - a top Flagship phone.

                                        Would ve been nice if there was a self standing hub version of this too, so one can easily hook up and play with a bt PS4 controller too. Although Im certain there are 3 rd party holding stands already out there, so no biggie.

                                        Expensive, but a great all together gaming rack.
