The moment you start office productivity it's a FAIL. I was fairly excited when Apple came up with iPadOS, but even after generations, when I saw a video review from an expert about its productivity apps, my excitement was gone. Surface is basically the only detachable in the market now that can do what I want to do. Yes, the price is absolutely ridiculous, thanks to the OEMs that have failed so far to come up with one that can deliver similar performance or results.

Too bad that Asus had to come up with such a lowly powered detachable when the design seems to be great. Moreover, Windows with ARM CPU doesn't still deliver well for many apps.

It's not about the OS. It's about the apps available. So what if the OS is awesome if the apps available are limited?

blue, 14 Sep 2022A total nonsense. The solemn fact that Surface uses a prop... moreWell like I said, if you really need Windows apps or overall superior OS, Surface may be the one for you. If you don't, then iPad certainly a better choice for your money. Like you said, that Pentium can do all-day tasks smoothly, but it loses the battery life segment to iPad. It can be fixed with using ARM chips, but it will sacrifice the compability for Windows x86 apps. Even though iPad has limited OS, it can do much more with its better performance than the baseline Surface Go 3, sure that Surface can do much more with its superior OS, but average customers most likely won't touch it that far, they will benefit more with the iPad performance instead. Thus, it results in huge iPad sales than these Windows tablets we all know today. Unless Windows tablets can be not more expensive than traditional laptop with the same specs and offer good battery life like iPad (without sacrificing apps compability too), I won't recommend Windows tablets to average customers. They will experience the hiccups and inconveniences more than when they use iPad.

There is a good reason why it's the best-selling tablet, and why people like it. For some, it's all they need. For others, a Mac Book Pro is better. Either is better in its segment than the competition. Most who care about games play on a console, not on a laptop.

The solemn fact that Surface uses a proper operating system instead of a crippled iPadOS, makes it superior. The Pentium is powerful enough to deal with all tasks, but if you expect it to run PC games at full resolution and extra high details, your mistake.
Oh, by the way, the iPad can't do it too.

I'm skeptical with devices like this. They're underpowered yet expensive at the same time. Surface Go 3 is one of the extreme example (I believe the Surface name alone makes it more expensive, but let's forget that for a moment). For the baseline $400 of official price, you only get 4GB RAM, 64GB eMMC, and Pentium 6500Y. It's obviously more expensive than your traditional laptop. Yeah, well you may argue that the form factor is the key difference, but iPad certainly is the better option, since we most likely use these tablets for casual usage. iPad is faster, more polished, and has longer battery life than those x86 chips. Except you really need some Windows softwares, then you might as well pick up iPad for the form factor.

And now Asus makes one with Snapdragon ARM chip that has it's own problems. Battery life sure is miles better, but software compabilities and overall performance are sacrificed. Unless the softwares you need has ARM native ports, they either don't run or get nerfed by the x86 emulation and the slowness of the chip itself. Snapdragon 8cx series are not that great for Windows ARM in terms of overall usability, what do you expect from the midrange 7cx series?

I may sound like an Apple fanboy, but it's just me being bitter with overall "Windows tablet" segment. Unless you spur a lot of money, it doesn't really worth it. My choice would go with either a traditional Windows laptop or an iPad or both. It just makes more sense to me than combining the OS and the form factor, resulting in underpowered, overpriced Windows tablets that only have half of the experience you might get from individual, separated devices.

Garaged stylus will never be good with its slimness, u can only use it for a short period of time before it becomes uncomfortable. Magnetic stylus ftw!

eMMC storage. That's worse than most mid-range smartphones. Only the really low end ones have eMMC since like last year. Is it not possible to use UFS with Windows? Or why isn't there at least an option to have a SSD?
