Sometimes is better when people from other departments gain new experience within new departments. This will help Xiaomi to grow even more.

Anonymous, 16 Sep 2022Why are you bringing Apple into the conversation? It’s not ... moreAndroid manufacturers, apart from Google with their own Pixel devices, have it difficult. Just to make that very clear.

They have to compete with everyone else, including Google and apple, both on HW price and on offering support.

Tell me if you spot the challenge that Xiaomi, and the rest, has?

In case you don't, it is lack of continuous revenue from their devices sold.

Google and apple make a boatload of money, every single day from the devices we all use. Regardless if they are manufactured by Xiaomi, Sony or others.

Obviously the HW manufacturers then has to either A) up the price to bake in X amount of years of support, or B) find a way to generate income from the devices while they are being used. Such as ads. A) is impossible unless everyone else does the same at the same time.

I'm on my third Xiaomi, and as with any previous devices from them I have zero ads in MIUI, because I don't like ads. On previous devices I could get my apps from Xiaomi's app store, hence some money would then go to Xiaomi, but that is not included on my Mi 11.

Side note, I also find it hysterical all the backlash Xiaomi has received for their ads that are essentially opt in, whilst the same publications don't say a word when Apple forces it upon their users. Despite users paying the apple branding tax and apple having continous revenue stream from apps, subscriptions and browser usage on their devices devices, apple still want more and get no criticism for it. So obviously apple will bring even more ads in future updates.

Who knows, maybe it will even lead to ios finally getting an app drawer so apple can place ads there as well ;-)

Realme is relevant because it’s Xiaomi’s closest competitor and shared many of the same flaws as Xiaomi did at first. And then calling me an Apple fanboy, but I have been critical of some of Apple products lately.

Now the goverment can put its puppet as CEO and take full control over this company too. Noice

Anonymous, 16 Sep 2022Why are you bringing Apple into the conversation? It’s not ... moreThe ads joke has been done too many times and getting old now. Talking about relevance, you bringing in Realme is relevant while I am not relevant when talking about Apple pushing ads. Ok, Mr Always Right..

Apple pushing ads to all their devices and are not controllable by users, while ads only appear on some Xiaomi phones and can to be disabled. You are just triggered I brought Apple into this. What do you think if we joke about the notch on Iphones and Macbooks instead?

Just look at Realme. Learning from a lot of mistakes. Xiaomi’s path is the opposite of its closest competitor. I’m not a Realme fanboy nor have any of its products, but Xiaomi’s a slap into the face

              Oh Realme removed ads

hope they won't just abandon their main revenue source, like HTC. and what HTC did was beyond stupidity.

I used to have Redmi Note 9 Pro which was a total disaster and i found a courage to give them a second chance, so far, i don't regret my choice.
I also think they're heading a very nice way since Android 12 MIUI 13, Android 10 & 11 were really problematic on my last Redmi (also entire device was a mess.)
