    Look at 12s Ultra vs Aquos R7. Both with same imx989.
    Xiaomi has 23mm vs 18mm (cropped to 19mm) of R7.
    Bump of 12s Ultra is way thicker.

    Wider lens = thinner module

            2) you cannot compare DR of cellphone using HDR vs camera using SDR. You do not compare same condition.

            No, camera outputs photos of better quality, not just better white balance. Even with slightly larger sensors, the crap plastic lenses, too much noise reduction and huge sharpening make phones lose against the cybershot.

              But it is hard to beat smartphone's ready to post images... even for good DSLR or mirrorless.
              Camera is superior only if you edit them afterwards.

                My year old Xiaomi 11T for £400 with 108mp camera is doing shit photos. Very unrealistic. Always wrong colours. I capture plenty of food and they always look bad. Never like what I see. Selfie cam is very bad as well.

I don't want to think "should I use ultrawide or just wide or maybe telephoto" and fumble around with the phone. I just fire up camera app and snap. No thinking, no fiddling, nothing. I don't need 5 useless cameras.

My point is what for 1+1+1+1 cams in phone with poor quality, just make ONE GOOD cam for everything... still more sense than some stupid 8mpix uw 1/2,7 etc ...

                            I do agree that this pixel binning nonsense is getting out of hand. On the Motorola edge ultra, the 50mp mode wasn't able to resolve the blinds whereas the 108mp quad Bayer binned to 27mp can.

                              Just make phone with ONE good 1" cam , no need more. Even no need selfie cam, i just want phone with only ONE , but GOOD cam. For everything else i can use mirorless or something , i just want some good cam in my pocket for daily shooting.
