If you were second or third, usually no one questions it. If you're best of the best, that can and usually is the case. Because only the best has the bragging rights to be "THE BEST" and thus often gets questioned.
This only applies to quality metrics. If some company braging to be "second largest" company that makes certain product, that's different.

The ridiculous thing is, I would have to believe the world's number 1 tech company told DXO not to put them at the top spot for fear of being accused of cheating, so they went in second and looks what's happening....everyone is accusing them of cheating!!!
Bit of an exercise in futility don't you think???
Also, I'm wondering why Honor simply didn't care and all in for the number one spot???
Never mind answering though, it's a daft question anyway, and you will only end up saying something you not saying, or something along those lines....🤔🤔🤔

Let's say some someone cheated to ranked the fourth. There will be naive people who say that if he cheated, why didn't he ranked the first? That's exactly what the cheater wants. First, that is simply an article on some tech website, not evidence.
Second, the article suggests (not proves) that companies liaise with DXOmark in order to work out ways to look better in their tests, nowhere does the article suggest anyone pays for specific ranking positions.
Third, there is nothing, and I repeat, NOTHING in that article to suggest Honor themselves haven't done the exact same thing and worked with DXO for the purposes of getting a more favorable result!!!!!

I've never seen anyone ever compare anything to Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra or 12S Ultra, Oppo Find X or whatever Sony's weird names are even though these are the so called "pinnacles of photography". And if they are used, they are on their launch and then no one cares anymore. It's always iPhone as some sort of high quality reference. Would anyone realistically see iPhone winning first position as "they had to be cheating"? I think not.

Man Honor is first because they deserve to be there by valid reasons not by overpaid people running DxOmark service. Apple is different case like we all know and proven by many times here on this site and everywhere else Apple would do litterary everything to get best out the best like bribing local authourities, courts, DxOmark site etc.
And for proof it did not took me more than few seconds to find this site.
After reading the text even you will imagine how doxmark works and why companies like Apple deceive its customers to get higher results on DxOmark scores.

Let me rewind time back to year 1998 with Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit racing game, where Ferrari and Mercedes cars were not allowed (by the brand owners) to be used in Hot Pursuit mode because it would portray the brand negatively when used as cars to evade police. You could use them in regular races without cops.
