Now do they gather user data internally, sure some at least, most of which is anonymized, But they do not sell it on.

I am not impressed with the standard 14 series this year, at least as far as customer facing features are concerned. It would have even been a stretch calling them an S upgrade, simply announcing the 14 Pro’s and dropping the price of the 13 series might have been a better approach this year I think.

Another way to at least lessen the excessive hate and even the valid criticisms is for them to just be a bit more pro-consumer, like maybe start by not sacrificing the regular iPhones in favor of the Pro variants (I mean, this article just further shows how much better of a deal the pricier Pro/Pro Max are compared to their non-Pro counterparts) but unfortunately, I don't see that happening soon either.

Because when that happens (if it ever happens) and the new champ starts behaving exactly like the old champ, then the levels of vitriol that gets aimed at Apple constantly on sites like this can all go instead the new market leader…..except of course, we all know that won’t happen.

Of course the other companies would want to get to the level of what Apple can pull off with their greed, but they are not able to do that and the impact on their users is not as much.

                          Not sure how I actually make you feel the "let’s start giving these things away with a smile and a hug like apparently everybody thinks they do in android land" because I stated in my first reply to you here that everyone who does the same are greedy too. The company itself is just as guilty of greed as their shareholders. To take a leaf out of you book, it's not like the company sits alone in a corner feeling remorse for being forced at gun point to do something against their will and principles. They all enjoy the success.

                          Yes, the competition does adopt the greedy practices that Apple pioneers because they are all companies trying to profit as much as they can. But that makes Apple's (including their shareholders') greed even worse because it creates a chain reaction that not only impacts their own users but also indirectly impacts the other users. It's a loss to all consumers in the end.

Should any other tech company feel for a second could can do what Apple does, then they will (and do) in a split second. Why, because they are just as greedy, they simply are not as capable at acting on it.

                              And let’s not forget that Apple are a multi trillion dollar publicly traded company, share holders only like seeing returns on their investments going one way, up. Should Apple decide ‘that’s it lads we’ve made enough money, let’s start giving these things away with a smile and a hug like apparently everybody thinks they do in android land 🤷’ revenues would drop, share prices would plummet and investors would abandon ship. In this regard Apple are in a way victims of their own success.

                              And when I said guts, maybe I should have said something more derogatory, the gall perhaps. Fact remains though many of Apples ‘evil’ business practices are quick to be adopted by the competition the moment the that competition feels they to can get away with it. Again why, because they are exactly like Apple they just are not quite as good at it.
