MediaTek announces Dimensity 1080 with bump in CPU and efficiency

    Dometalican, 11 Oct 20221050 was just the 1000 with mmWave. Nothing in terms of imp... more1000C, not 1050. 1050 is, at least from CPU/GPU subsystem, is closer to D930 than a D1000. Granted it got G610-MC3 GPU but I don't think it can beat the G77-MC9 inside D1000, or even to be a close rival.

      This just don't help Mediatek and its confusing numbering scheme. At 1080 we expect more capabilities than the older generation 1000-series, not comparing it to lesser 900-series ones. This will make D1050 laugh at its face.

        Good Cpu from Mediatek, hope Redmi Note 12 will be equipped this engine

          Who would guess that the successor to 920 is 1080? Does not seem logical. Snapdragon naming is better to understand right now, even if I don’t know where the + is put.

              wierd upgrade. Why use this new cpu when you have the same 6nm Dimensity 1100 and with a bit faster gpu...... seems to me mediatek got greedy lately...

                Feels to me that this is somewhat a wasted product. Still A78 and A55. Should this be A710 and A510 already? Just a minimal upgrade from 108MP to 200MP camera support. And why Dimensity 920 upgrade? Mediatek should release an upgrade for Dimensity 1300.

                      Dimensity 920 successor? I thought there's a more powerful Dimensity 930? Also, what about Dimensity 1050? Is that a lower-tier version of this Dimensity 1080?
