SShock, 14 Oct 2022State of these payment systems on Android is so bad. Google... moreYes. That's exactly the situation in my country. Apple is way ahead. And yes, Curve is working fine with NFC

digibum, 17 Oct 2022I completely agree with you! World is promoting contactless... moreI just tried NFC payment via 3rd party app (which is set as default NFC payment) on a vending machine for coffee and while it's possibility that old Android device is the cause (Xiaomi Mi5), I couldn't pay the damn thing with NFC. It accepted initial "payment" which just invokes selection of items and after you select what you want, you place phone next to NFC terminal again and it pays for whatever you've actually selected. On iPhone, it works flawlessly. Here, first tap was registered and second one straight up refused no matter what. Now I'm unsure if I want an Android phone if this crap won't work. I can't carry credit card with me during work, but I do have the phone. And I want my coffee.

I wonder if it works any more reliably if it's GooglePay/SamsungPay directly and not via 3rd party...

Just to keep the 5% store taxes to themselves. For instance, Bank of Ireland seemed to have done that back when Samsung Pay launched here in Ireland. They co-announced with Samsung back in 2015 that it was coming. Nothing happened. Took until a couple years ago for two smaller banks to start supporting Samsung Pay in Ireland.

It was so unreliable I had to always carry credit card with me anyway or look like fool when payment didn't work at checkout. I've not had a single such issue with Apple Pay in last 3 years or so. Given I'm planning to go with Galaxy S23 next year, it would be nice if official support was better so I don't have to use crappy bank's app again...

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2022Samsung and google pay are supported at every store I go tkIt's not as much of a problem of being supported to pay as it is even being able to use the thing on the phone and even add a credit card to it. GooglePay simply doesn't exist as an app or setting. And as far as I know same for Samsung Pay. You'd have to sideload it and spoof location to set it up. Something I really don't want to do with money related stuff.

State of these payment systems on Android is so bad. GooglePay is not supported in my country for some reason and neither is Samsung Pay. Meanwhile, Apple Pay works for years now. I don't get it.

Anyone knows if if you use for example Curve, can you do payments using NFC via Curve's app directly in Android and not having to bother with Google or Samsung? I know Curve is supported in my country...
