All the models are getting update on the same day. For all supported Pixel devices it took around a week because of staggered rollout. Other OEM's are taking much longer. OnePlus has only updated 10 pro to 13(stable), Xiaomi is yet to roll out for 12 series(It is in beta for last 2 months).
                  I understand the scale of modifications vary with each OEM but they have at least 2 months between the announcement and stable release.

Fundamentally the same OS, controlled by Google, with just some additional drivers and software add-ons at most from the device manufacturer. However, that would also kill skins.

Don't compare it with skinned Android.
