Or just bring back SD CARD Slot to your flagship phones so crucial data can just be saved there & if phone bricks unplug the sdcard.

This is only useful assuming you can go into settings and enable this. Which, in case if phone doesn't turn on or has destroyed display, you can't. But I guess at least having an option is nice.

You can wipe the sand boxed maintenance partition and that is it.

For people saying that service centers do factory reset so this is not useful - this is not just meant for persisting your data while it's serviced, it's for safeguarding your data while being serviced. So even if your service person don't reset, they can't access the data.
And not all service person does it and not all service requests need it. For eg you want to replace the back glass? Why do you or the service person reset the device?
This is also helpful for less tech literate person. For eg I can easily ask my aunt remotely to enable this before giving to basic service than to ask her to take backup or do reset.

I am not afraid at all at my local repair guy although i don't leave phone to be repaired unattended by myself.
I am more afraid the the US is spying onn us thru google, facebook etc...
and they got the balls to talk china spying.

technician still can read your data via box read raw your ufs dump them and extract.
