28 October 2022
It's just a crop from a full photo, but it shows a massive improvement in resolved detail.

the difference is very impressive given how good most phones are nowadays overall, but we need the original file, and some camera information to understand this better

Trickery, nothing else. A high resolution photo even with such small pixels will look fine in broad daylight. But overall not true, especially given that these aren't RGB pixels, rather rely on interpolation to estimate what colour, inferior to the real deal. Tired of repeating the same thing over and over again.

Olympus Oms, 28 Oct 2022Not impressed over those shots. Ok then don't be.

astalavista, 28 Oct 2022Are those taken 200MP vs 108MP or both 12MP? IF ITS 200MP V... moreHow? There is also the lens etc. In real world my S22 Ultra resolves max. 15MP or so with the MAIN camera, probably even less. 100MP 200MP 300MP blah blah wont help.
The 10x camera resolves obv. evenway less, not even 8 MP.

Whatever sensor they put there, with the lenses and stuff they offer it won't resolve better. I can shoot 108MP images with the main camera that is, but they really look concoct.

It is not what the pixels say in your file (like 4000x3000), but a good quality monitor says the truth about all this fuss. It isnt really a lot resolving power. And where it does resolve some more it looks artificial. That does not count in my book.

If the S23 will resolve better it wont be due to the 200MP's. . It will be very high quality lens, better image processing in-chip (NOT the software AI part). Not going to happen imho.

If Samsung came out with non-binning true bayer native 16 or 24MP close to 1 inch or so sensor i would believe it COULD bring out more detail with the right glass and a whole lot other quality stages.

                        Not that we need that.

Resolution and resolving power are way overrated anyway.
It only makes the pixle peepers happy.
Who wants to be a pixel peeper?

" SemiAnalysis issued a document stating that in the legal battle with Qualcomm, ARM cast the biggest blow-ARM plans to change its licensing model, thereby cutting off customers from using non-ARM architecture GPUs, NPUs, ISPs and other SoC components.

This news was released by Qualcomm. Qualcomm said that after 2024, ARM will not sign CPU technology licensing agreements with semiconductor companies like Qualcomm. And ARM's licensing will turn to equipment manufacturers, ARM allegedly told equipment manufacturers that the only way to get ARM-based chips is to sign a new ARM licensing agreement.

In Qualcomm's allegations, ARM told its customers that companies such as Qualcomm will not be able to continue to provide ARM chips from 2025. And ARM will also prohibit Qualcomm from continuing to sell chips based on the ARM architecture after 2025.

In addition, Qualcomm also accused ARM of telling OEMs that semiconductor manufacturers would be prohibited from using their own or third-party architectures to replace ARM's architecture on other components of the SoC. Use SoC components developed around ARM CPUs. These components include GPUs, NPUs, and ISPs, among others. This regulation will deal a huge blow to manufacturers such as Qualcomm, Samsung, and MediaTek that use their own architectures on chips, or other licensed architectures.

In Qualcomm's court filings, Qualcomm stated that ARM continued and unfairly spread false news about Qualcomm's architecture authorization in an attempt to disrupt Qualcomm's normal operations and partnerships. ARM not only did this by itself, but also spread these false news through SoftBank's channels. Deliberately creating non-existent uncertainty in an attempt to disrupt the relationship between Qualcomm and its customers."

I just hope samsung is going to be able to take full control of this sensor and not do the s20 ultra hype fail again. They need to get their video quality up AND their detail level up in order to at least compete with Apple now. I feel like Samsung's going down the wrong path, higher megapixel would only mean more time needed to process the same photo and that would mean longer load times, extremely high shutter lag, etc. They haven't been able to make the zoom shifts smooth, they haven't been able to improve shutter lag even on the 108 mp phones so how will they do it on the 200mp one i wonder and finally the video quality is at least 2 generations away from apple. Heck, even if they use this sensor, the size is STILL smaller than Apple's 48 MP one and miles away from Xiaomi's 1 inch one, guess Koreans like it small
