Anonymous, 03 Nov 2022Oh look another comment trying to stir up discussion agains... moreIsn't that the usual thing on this site?
But I do agree, I mean I use Android and iOS, but never liked Windows Mobile when that existed.
I use Windows and Linux, but never liked any Mac OS variant.
Yet I don't scream out loud what people should use or what I like or hate, neither I would troll about it or act like a fanboy.
Everything has a purpose, and if one prefers Mac OS that is fine, I prefer Windows and Linux but will respect the choice of others.
But again this site it's comment section in a nutshell.

Anonymous, 03 Nov 2022why is it even disabled at a system level to begin with? ... moreEver thought it's because India's legal system didn't allow it? Why people always rush to complain over Apple just because it's Apple and not a single time consider country has laws that didn't allow it? Or networks? 5G is no different than ECG support on watches where it has to be approved per country. Or other heart related metrics.

5G will be still three years away according to me. Atleast two years away. Don't expect anything before 2024 end. So 4G+ is enough with 200Mbps speeds.

Anonymous, 03 Nov 2022My Xiaomi phone supports 5g my default. You don't need... moreFrom a legal perspective that should not be possible, unless the phone you bought was not meant for the Indian market.
Even the comment below mentions stuff about it.
Also kinda strange to blame Apple only here, Samsung and Google (to name few) are also bringing out updates to enable 5G in India.
Even Xiaomi, just Google it because I just did and found multiple articles mentioning it (cant link them, because my comment would not be posted then)

Anonymous, 03 Nov 2022why is it even disabled at a system level to begin with?
... moreIt is mostly due to regulation on usage of unlicensed spectrum. This was also the reason Pixel 4 series didn't launch in India. Basically you are not supposed to operate devices on any part of the spectrum which is not licensed/authorized by the Government.
Most Android OEM's started pushing updates as soon as the auction finished.
This is issue didn't happen during 4G rollout because the spectrum auction happened before the devices with 4G were even launched in India. Plus there was a considerable gap between auction and rollout.

I don’t remember exactly why but if not mistaken someone once mentioned, it was because of legal reasoning.
