      Those helmets are very light, so nothing to do with this. Also the weight is top of your head.

      You just don’t accept that Apple will make these whole lot better and more appealing so you need to make these excuses. You will be very butthurt when you see this headset.

        Apple's vision of the tech future to be in AR/XR products appears very convincing. VR hardware and software products maybe important only for gaming aficionados.

              Price will be somewhere in $2500 to $3500 or equivalent, depending on which country you buy in.

These will weight only 200-300 grams. Apple is aiming the final weight to be 100-200g That alone will make these lot more appealing. Propably biggest con with VR glasses are that hardly no-one want to wear them because they are so heavy and clunky.

                          That looks stupid.
                          Build the technology inside glasses, make them affordable, then see it become a part of people's normal life. They have the transparent OLED technology, and the efficient processor, and even the miniature cameras. All that's really missing is the battery technology, since current lithium cells are not quiet adequate (40g, 500mAh, 8hr battery life).

                          If we can get a massive revolution in battery tech, like Solid State or Graphite, we might be able to keep the weight but increase the capacity by x10 which would change the use case, into a higher-performance product with 30hr battery life.

                          Imagine it syncing to your phone, and when walking around it gives you walking directions. Especially handy in large airports, shopping malls, finding bathrooms, elevators and emergency exits in buildings. Or the names of people above their heads, and one detail about them. It might make Pokemon Go infinitely more fun. Events like concerts can show messages, and festivals can direct you to First Aid stalls. Basically bringing the best bits of a phone/internet, as existing digital entities that are augmented in this "mixed" reality. Where VR isolates you, this instead brings people together.

                            Ocullus by HTC is a lot better.
                            This costly gimmick willl sell only because Apple will spend on advertising of this product more than is current company value of entire HTC.
