Funfact: Like China also India are the two biggest nations by Poppulation same covid situation could happens in india too. Just one person can make all factory to close down due to pandemic.
More people working in one pace bigger the chance of Covid disease.
So moving whole production from one place to another will solves nothing.
Maybe India is not so strict towards Covid and pandemic like China but know this something lot worse than covid can easily appear from nowhere just like the covid and we all gets doomed.
If Tim Cook really want hes biggest chance would be to open independed factory in USA for making Iphoes. Somewhere close to Sillicon Valley.

They have the power to influence the industry. But instead of making positive decisions, they don't care about it, and care only about their own profit. Of course, you might say that they are thinking from a business perspective and every other company is the same. But neither company has the influence of Apple. If, let's say, Xiaomi or Realme will do something, nobody else will care and nobody will follow that trend. So, their decisions do not weight the same as Apple's.
For this reason Apple should have done more for the industry. Instead they are just doing things for themselves and their profit, without carrying for others or their customers.
Wanna bet that in couple of years they will remove sim card slot and charging port? Officially, for "technology" purposes. In reality, they will do it to have full control for everything inside the iPhone. Without the needing to use usb-c. So, they will use MagSafe charging, for which they have license and full control.
If you don't believe me, just wait and see.

it takes time to become a good enough worker for company that needs very polished premium products.
so, without any doubt you can guarantee that the quality of iPhones that will be produced in India will be of very low quality.
luckily it is apple. logo fan people will get hypnotized seeing the eaten apple logo and will think the flaws of the phones as some kind of premium features. to them, being able to have the logo and becoming brainless arrogant is the main benefit.
