Who cares, 20 Nov 2022I copied my music library from my PC to my phone. Now what?... moreThere are many reasons you might want to listen to something on your phone through your PC. This presumes of course that your PC is better equipped for listening than your phone of course. Nice headphones, nice speakers, that sort of thing. Or that you want to listen to multiple things at once (such as audio from a video game, and music, a podcast, etc.) and want Windows to mix the audio.

But why your phone as audio source? Well because it has certain apps that either don't exist for Windows, or don't work as well on Windows. For instance, Audible. For whatever reason, the app never syncs correctly, so if I use it on my PC I have to manually find my place in a book. If I could just play it on my phone, but hear it through my PC headphones, that would be fantastic.

Unfortunately, the most reliable way of doing that is still a 3.5mm cable connecting the phone to a line-in on the PC - which mine has, but not all do (laptops probably only have a headset multiport, which isn't going to work well for input).

Streaming the audio to the PC over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth would be much better. But all the existing options for doing this are pretty meh. Having this built into a Microsoft product MIGHT means a better experience.

I use Zorin Connect that is based on KDE Connect cuz i'm a Zorin user... and it's great that we have a great solution for linux. Yet, you can't mirror your phone's screen on the PC and you can't also drag and drop files from PC to Android, like you do with Phone Link/Your Phone. Right now, Samsung has a good integration with Windows, but it can always get better... and I hope that the day that "Microsoft stops collaborating with Samsung" never comes.

I do understand that some XPS models now have great speakers as well, but I'm still not convinced, as I still prefer the speakers of MacBooks overall.

                      Some ultrabooks these days have great speakers. Check out the XPS 15 or the Lenovo Yoga Slim series.

                      However, not nearly close to Apple speaker quality though.

                          AudioRelay on play store already does this both ways with customisable buffer size. I actually use it often to stream pc audio to phone since I don't have any speakers.

                            Speaking of audio, why can't Windows Ultrabooks have as nice speakers as the MacBooks? The only laptops with better speakers than MacBooks are the gaming laptops, which often cost so much more, or may cost about the same or less but cuts a lot of corners in return.
