The next-generation flagship chip was just announced. It promises improvements on all fronts compared to the 8 Gen 1.

Well is expectable new chip will be better than old.
I dont see a reason of releasing a new chip which will be on par or worse than previous model.
Hope this one beats M2 in performance and heating issues.
I mean it will be better in real life experience and on the paper.

    Every launch newest chipset talk about more efficient, but if you bought flagship smartphone, never gotnnormal use of such smartphones for more than 1 week. For normal use 2 days is already quite good, even most flagship smartphones charge in the morning, lasting until the evening of the same day is charged again.

                        The focus on this gen is efficiency , cpu get prioritized performance to help get better score after bionic while the gpu which already fast get huge efficiency , the segmentation is not ground breaking at all to me seems the isp does not get any upgrade at all

                        Ray tracing and vullan 1.3 support is also there in dimensity 9200

According to the Chinese reviewers of the Oppo Reno 8 pro and the Xiaomi civi 2 the performance of this chip is barely any better Snapdragon 778g+ (slightly better on most benchmarks but slightly worse on geekbench 5 for example) and the efficiency is worse (possibly due to it not using TSMC's fabrication). Guessing that might be why the Snapdragon 778G+ remained the more popular choice this year (maybe it's also slightly cheaper)

                                The best thing to do is to skip generations my current phone is 888, previously I had 835. With this said, 888 to SD8 Gen 2 doesn't sound bad to me, the performance and energy efficiency are way better if you skip a couple of generations. Obviously from one generation to another there won't be much of a difference.
