foldables' biggest concern is durability and this design is even more fragile.

Amir, 19 Nov 2022xiaomi: innovation is for loosers! Oi, winner....you spelt 'loser' incorrectly.

I can just laugh at abilities of (almost) all brands to make thick device with small cameras.
          So much for next gen.
It actually felt intentional as the only brand to come first and with the best design lost its chance with a ban. Its kind of sad looking back at such useful design, no matter how imperfect it is, it was camera centric.

No need to have two completely diferrent screen when you can have one together in a rolling mechanism. In fact, you can even go as far as a legit tablet.

Xiaomi trying to take on Huawei Mate Xs/Xs 2. Best of luck with that, I'm still not sure if outward folding solution is the better way to go.

you have to suffer, 18 Nov 2022you tell that to oppo with their find NWhat is your point ? SD888 is a budget cpu you want to say ? Even tough oppo find n has it and is release Dets. 2021. Now still has 1100 price tag so it has not dropped it's price a lot even.
Buying android and want to get it for longer time so you want more update time means that you cant buy phone older then 2-3 months as the phone update schedule dont start from the time you buy the phone but from when the model was first released. So the older the model is the less updates you get and there is no point to spend 4 digits on a year old phone

Still waiting for this phone. Hopefully Xiaomi thinks of making one... LOL

Anonymous, 18 Nov 2022Wat? The initial point of foldables isn't to have two ... more"The point is to have one device that is pocketful that also doubles as a media consumption device. Phones are pretty terrible for watching movies "

                              Which foldable solves this?

The aspect ratio of them in "tablet mode" is useless for 16:9 - 21:9 aspect ratio content, like movies and videos, and only usable for instagram etc. The foldables need one more fold to get a proper aspect ratio going for movies and videos.

They saw they could make this, realized they could increase costs, lower durability and practicality with the inwards folding design, and went with the inwards one instead.

Well that, or they just realized it was basically a 1:1 copy of the Huawei Mate X and didn't want to get sued.

Rodolf, 18 Nov 2022Thanks, but I'd rather buy 2 smartphones for the price... moreThat is why I leave my Samsung Galaxy Fold behind and buy an LG V50 with its DualScreen case. I really should have done the latter earlier as it is still a much better practical solution than foldable screen phones, especially when the case is detachable. I don't have to carry or use the second screen all the time while also got a headphone jack with the best audio quality on a smartphone yet. The V50 gets my solid thumbs up.

Rodolf, 18 Nov 2022Thanks, but I'd rather buy 2 smartphones for the price... moreWat? The initial point of foldables isn't to have two phones side by side, that would have been useless. The point is to have one device that is pocketful that also doubles as a media consumption device.

Phones are pretty terrible for watching movies say / anything other than tiktok style short videos. The tiny screens get pretty tiring pretty fast. They are not great for gaming either.

A foldable purports to be solving that in a pocket able format. Ofc it doesn't because foldables when foldables are still quite small screen (9-10 inches should be the minimum for tablet use, anything less it's just a slightly larger phone) ... step by step I guess.

But yeah, buying two phones would do nothing in servicing media consumption needs. The screens remain tiny and kind of useless for anything other than casual games and short form videos...

A robust foldable industry would open up so many more vista's when it comes to mass consuming content... it is simply not here yet, though. It's more like an end 2020s kind of product, we're in the awkward phase of foldables. A bit of how early smartphones (early '00s smartphones) were awkward and only by the end of that decade we got the real deal (iPhone 4 pretty much)...
