18 November 2022
Geekbench results have already shown that Galaxy S23 models run their Prime CPU core 170MHz faster than other SD 8 Gen 2 phones that were benchmarked.

Overclocked for like a few seconds then throttle badly?

Peter-B, 18 Nov 2022Just because a chipset CAN run at higher clocks doesn'... moreHey Peter,
Just ignore the trolls and fanboys. There are some of us power-users and enthusiasts here too. Dozens of us! Lol.

And yes, sustained performance and real-world usage is most important. Single-burst performance and Synthetic benchmarks are a poor indicator of a device's "speed". You can also get a pretty big difference between highly optimised software versus bloated and clunky software.

For instance, the QSD 855 can and does outperform the QC 8g1 in "speed" but you wouldn't know it going off those benchmark scores alone, and unoptimised software. The QSD 870 bought some upgrades, but the D9000 and QC 8g1+ were the first legitimate chipsets to show a sizeable gap. The QC 8g2 and D9200 won't be much of an improvement over those last two.

For that we need a proper upgrade in node shrink, and proper upgrade in architecture. The Cortex-X1/A78/A55 is still pretty competitive against the Cortex-X3/A715/A515, whereas the early TSMC 5nm node is still competitive against the latest TSMC +4nm node. We should see that with the iPhone 15 (Apple A17) in Late-2023 and Samsung S24 (QC 8g3) in Early-2024, thanks to TSMC 3nm and the 2nd-gen ARMv9 architecture / Apple's next-gen architecture.

        Overclocked GPU, superquick planned obsolescence

And even now ios or pixels don't shine as anything exception there.

I doubt its really going to happen, and even if it is, its not going to be on the lines of SD 8+ Gen 2. What's likely is that it might be an overboost feature that will be baked into Soc for performance mode and it will be like SD 8 Gen 2 Max or something on those lines.

What most people don't realize is the biggest speed and performance boost is going to come from the switchover to UFS 4 from 3.1 and the jump to LPDDR5X, especially for a heavy skin like UI 5. Add that to a 10% performance increase from SD 8+ Gen 1 and a 25% improvement in heat disspitation & battery efficiency, you should get a substanial postive boost in performance & usage.

Samsung should continue its recent focus on efficiency, features and user-experience. Google Pixel & Apple are following that philosophy and it works for them. Chasing the highest Antutu & Geekbench scores are only going to get them so far.

The main reason that smartphone cameras are improving so much, is that the world wants much better quality all rounder cameras, that are portable.

will w8 and buy s23 ultra near end of 2023 for 30-40% discount :)

how much faster is it gonna be?.... since they throttled all the others to the point of no real upper performance an it caused a huge scandal...... claiming fast speeds an giving average....... no 8 gen anything chip has been good so far because of heat issues alone. an as far as better battery life i have not seen that either... my 10t pro gets 118 according to gsm arena .. no 8 gen anything has gotten close to it ........coming from a company that has laundered $$ an price gouged an lied about their products.... ill pass on them as usual

They are really committed to making their phones overheat, even after dumping the Exynos SoCs. You have to admire that. Well done!
