I might be from a cave but i am happy here...
and in our cave we only get sim free phones and we need to pay our service providers EXTRA money to activate GPRS and then every MB sent or recieved charges us...
why the hell would i want that... ?

Kal, 26 Aug 2008Oh please!!!!Could you please read my comments again. I'm t... moreOh yes we can attach photos and email it, so I was not just talking about saying hi or hello. We can even attach & email "notes" that are saved in our iphones. I haven't tried sending any file from my iphone. Maybe because I have a pc at work, at home, and also a laptop. How about you? Do you do all your pc work through your phone? Wow, must be tough not to have a computer and do your work through your phone. Are you that poor? LOL. But if you really want to find out, call AT&T. Did I ever say that my iphone can do every thing? But the omnia tries to do everything, only thing is, the quality and end results are mediocre =)

Yes, it's ok to only email if you cannot send files via BT, as long as you can send the file. It's ok for a phone if it can't take videos if you already have a digital camera that can. But of course, if you are a poor person who cannot afford to buy a good quality camera, then I guess it is a must that your phone can take videos even if it does not provide excellent results =)

As far as I know, a regular phone is a phone that can make and receive calls, all the other features are extras.

I got the 16gb so it's $299. The iphone is not meant to be unlocked and be sold for $800. Apple even discourages that because an unlocked iphone user will not benefit from all the great things the phone can do, unless of course you're an expert jailbreaker, but most people are not. So I suggest you settle with a 2nd rate phones like the omnia if you cannot afford to get the iphone legitimately, period.

I'm talking about sending "FILES" as attachment via email, not just typing "hi" or "hello" to your friend. And keep that basic education of how emails works to yourself cause we all know how it works.
My point is, can you send a 10mb or higher files as attachment through your beloved iPhone? Does your service provider allow that or not.

You simply don't have answer for that and talking about other bull crap. Every one knows that you don't get all options with iPhone. I'm sure Apple will love to have customers like you.

Are you trying to tell us that it's ok if you can ONLY email even if there is BT? It's ok to have a camera that doesn't capture video? I'm not saying that it's a crap. The smooth touchscreen and UI and web browsing experience is unmatched, unbeaten. But it doesn't give you what a regular phone must have.
Maybe it doesn't matter to you coz you are getting it in $199 with contract, but for many it matters coz they have to pay close to $800. For that money we need to have most options, and we get it in Omnia. If you are happy with iPhone, be happy. This is not a iPhone forum. period.

You said "with Omina we can also send as much email as we want" - then that's good. As for the BT, that's nice if it works all the time, but there are instances that it doesn't, so guess what you end up doing? EMAIL.

You said "So you don't care about your friends service provider, what's the point of sending a file if he/she cant get it?" - That's your problem. And why wouldn't he/she get it unless I was given the wrong email address. For your education, email works with all IP's, you do not need an iphone just to get an email from an iphone user. How silly.

You said "Bottom line is iPhone doesn't give you options to chose from". Why would I need more options when I already have the best option? LOL. You said "It's hardly a phone" - Then that just proves that you're stupid =)

You know with Omina we can also send as much email as we want and at the same time we can BT that file to a friend who is standing next to us. If I have to let him/her stare at it and later send by email for crying out loud, then why on the earth I need a iPhone for? So you don't care about your friends service provider, what's the point of sending a file if he/she cant get it? Now there comes apple's marketing strategy, your friend has to use a iPhone3g too. Smart move to increase iphone sale. LOL
Bottom line is iPhone doesn't give you options to chose from. It's hardly a phone. This is Omnia opinion section, lets talk about "PHONE". Shall we?

What I meant w/ free to email is, you do not have to pay extra charges every time you send a picture via email, compared to MMS. I don't care about who your service provider is. We are obviously talking about the iphone, and with the iphone you can send as much emails as you want everyday like you would on your PC at home. Also, we are talking about iphone 3g, so do not drag the iphone EDGE into the picture. And gosh, no one will die if you do not get the picture sent to you right away, geez. If that person is standing right next to you, then just show him/her the damn picture off your iphone. Let him/her stare at it for an hour for crying out loud, and email it to him/her later, gosh, some people.

How could you say email is free when you are acknowledging yourself that it's a part of the internet subscription. Are you saying Internet subscription is FREE???? Ask yourself.

And yes email very much depends on your service provider. They set the limit to file attachment not apple. For instance can you send me a 5-10mb file with email right now? That depends on your service provider and my service provider. Not to mention on EDGE it will take ages to download them.Even if you are able to send it, my service provider might not let me download that huge file. I can always get my hands on my laptop to email a big file to someone who is in another country. But what will you do when that other person is standing next to you within 10 feet and you are on a EDGE network? That is indeed very very much funny.

It's a part of your internet subscription regardless of who your carrier is. Yes transferring files via BT is free, but can you BT me a file now? I don't think so. You always need to be at least 10 feet from the other phone to transfer a file, while with email, you can be in a different country. So which one would you rather have? If there is no 3g in your area, then the iphone would automatically switch to EDGE, and there is nothing funny with that =)

That depends on which country you are in, which provider and what plan you are subscribed to. In many countries just like mms you have to pay for internet on mobile as well, be it GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA/3G. wifi would be free but it's hard to find a hotspot in those countries. There only bluetooth comes free. Does that make any sense? And btw Apple is selling iPhone 3G to countries where there is no 3G network as of yet. Isn't that funny enough.
