Satellite communication as I see it will be the future, the internet will be like todays GNSS, always-on internet everywhere, no sim, no wifi. With exception to some devices disabled frequencies for some countries so they can keep offering their own censored local internet to block what they see unsuitable for their nation.

I hear the biggest twatter t__ll is banking extremely hard on it being the future of wireless internet.

This is 100% the ONLY reason Apple rushed to get a half baked dysfunctional feature no one will ever use, just to get a fake "first". The proof? The write-up above, claiming Samsung had a time machine in 2020 and knew Apple would offer satellite calls with a longer disclaimer list than those pharma half-time commercials.

Satellites should be upgraded to provide free 5G to all.

                            You write:
"Samsung seems to be ready to take some inspiration from Apple".
                            And you also write:
"Samsung has been working on overcoming the technical challenges of bringing satellite communications to smartphones for the past two years".

Do you realize that you contradict yourself? If it is about being first, why don't you say Samsung was inspired by Huawei?

All these companies have been working on that technology.

Instead of spending so much effort to get this antenna into the phone, it would be more important to bring a micro sd slot back

If you think you'll be streaming Youtube and making calls and messages through satellite signal, dream on. Maybe only in case your tower signal drops and you're offline for certain extended period of time and it then switches to satellite option. But it certainly won't be for data and VoLTE quality calls.

The satellite messaging 'emergency' part was actually first implemented in Huawei phone through Beidou navigation system. If Samsung succeed in providing full internet service through satellite then it'll be the first of its kind and not considered copying Huawei or Apple.
