Comparing the Xperia 5 IV to the Galaxy S22, the Sony is 10 mm longer, and 0.6mm thicker, I'm not surprised it can fit a 5000 mAh battery, the Samsung is 3.6mm wider, but that's nothing compared to being 10mm longer.
There are probably other components in the Samsung that takes space, even the S23 became slightly bigger to get just 200 mAh.
For some reason people just look at the display size (6.1") and ignore the fact the Sony is longer, thicker and has bigger bezels.

Gggg, 28 Nov 2022Why would you need 1440p on a 6 inch screen ???Ask to ppl that back in 2015 bashed Z3+ and 6s+ for not having QHD like S6.
Just like as many other stuff, it is called "gimmick" when samsung lacks but suddenly becomes "must have" when samsung adopts.

It's really sad how the S20 and S20 plus are better than their successors and it seems the S23 and S23 plus will still be worse
Only the Ultra upgraded, the basic and + versions downgraded and stayed the same

Samsung is not gonna bother doing same. Since S23 series is gonna sold 20 million devices at least.
They see no reason. And nothing is gonna change as long as ppl are buying. Unless sales drop more than 20%, nothing changes.

Xiaomi is going to offer 1440p 144 Hz screen that can change to lower Hz on other parts on the screen even in its base variant.
Shameless Samsung stuck with same design and 1080p screen 😭 on base variant.
